Brother that is rotten luck. Who could've foreseen an injury prone player getting injured?

Mavs home games are going to get super ugly, might have to go with virtual fans

Can we get some kind of supercut of AD pointing to the court saying I'M HERE and then a SC anchor breaking the news that he's out a month?

So Horst gets fired and you have to choose between Nico Harrison, Billy King or David Khan to run your team.

Who you got?

New Mavs owners < Herb Kohl to say the least.

13 months into his family’s majority ownership of the Mavericks and his tenure as team governor, Patrick Dumont stands behind the controversial and widely panned trade of superstar Luka Doncic. Fully. Firmly. Unflinchingly. “It’s hard to make tough decisions,” Dumont said. “And it’s hard to make the right decisions when they’re tough. And it’s easy to do nothing. But when you want to pursue excellence in an organization, you have to make the tough decisions and stand by them and keep going.”

Dumont’s tone again turned forceful. “If you look at the greats in the league, the people you and I grew up with — [Michael] Jordan, [Larry] Bird, Kobe [Bryant], Shaq [O’Neal] — they worked really hard, every day, with a singular focus to win,” he said. “And if you don’t have that, it doesn’t work. And if you don’t have that, you shouldn’t be part of the Dallas Mavericks. That’s who we want. I’m unwavering on this. The entire organization knows this. This is how I operate outside of basketball. This is the only way to be competitive and win. If you want to take a vacation, don’t do it with us.”

It will be interesting to see who plays more games from here on out, Luka or AD.

They are knifing Luka after the trade as well. You can’t tell me Luka doesn’t work hard…or at least as hard as notoriously out of shape Shaq. What a clown this Dumont guy is.

Feel so sorry for the Dallas fans. Not only a terrible trade but he just had to go to the Lakers

Again, decision to trade Luka is easy to understand. But for him they should have got star without injury history.

Cavs would give them Mitchel, Celtics would give them Brown, Suns would give them Durant etc.

Known star without injury history, Kevin Durant.

What happened where Cuban actually though he’d maintain control of basketball operations, and then they don’t even tell him as a minority owner they’re dealing Luka on the cheap in the most painful way possible for fans before the deal is agreed to?

"Nothing's really changed except my bank account," Cuban said after wrapping up his 3-point shooting session on the American Airlines court about 2½ hours before Wednesday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. "I feel really good. I think it's a great partnership. It's what the team needed on the court and off. I'll still be overseeing the basketball side of it, but having a partner like Patrick and Sivan and Miriam and their ability to build and to redevelop the arena and whatever comes next beyond that just puts us in a much better position to compete. That's all. That's what it comes down to."

Yeah he was told, or at least thought, he'd still have control over BB ops. But he made a comment a few weeks ago about how that's not the case. I believe I saw something about him losing his seat behind the bench.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Khris is listed as "out - not with team" for tonights game. Given his PO, I doubt he'll be bought out. Unless he's positive he's not going to exercise it and will become a free agent this summer. And most of the contenders couldn't sign him via buyout anyway.

I'm guessing they probably just told him to rest until after the all-star break. Give him some more time to heal and to get his family moved or adjusted to their new situations after the trade before the second half of the season starts.

I would be completely incapable of rooting for that franchise anymore if I was a Mavs fan. What the **** are these comments?

Shaq? The same Shaq who showed up out of shape to training camp repeatedly and would put off getting surgeries until right before the season because "I got hurt on company time, so I'll heal on company time"? The same Shaq that openly admitted to not training during the summers and using the season to play his way into shape?

Also imagine mentioning Shaq as one of your examples of insane work ethic and dedication/commitment to the franchise, instead of the 20 year Mavs legend who delivered the only title in franchise history and has a statue outside the building.

To what extent do we think Cuban got played?

Sure seemed like he thought he'd have power or at least influence on the basketball side -- then the deal was signed and that was reneged on almost immediately.

“It’s a partnership,” Cuban said. “They’re not basketball people. I’m not real estate people. That’s why I did it. I could have gotten more money from somebody else. I’ve known these guys for a long time. They’re great at the things I’m not good at.”

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/mark-cuban-explains-sold-majority-stake-dallas-mavericks-rcna131499

Looking at the potential $20 billion valuation he's talking about here is context for where he was perhaps willfully naive on that front too:

“When I first bought it in 2000 I was the tech guy in the NBA,” Cuban told the All-In podcast. “I was the media guy. I had every edge and every angle. Now fast-forward 24 years later, in order to sustain growth to be able to compete with the new collective bargaining agreement, you have to have other sources of revenue.

“And so you see other teams in all sports for that matter talking about casinos, talking about doing real estate development. That’s just not me,” the former Shark Tank star said. “I wasn’t going to put up $2 billion to get an education on building. If we’re able to build a Venetian-type casino in Dallas with an American Airlines Center in the middle of it, the valuation is $20 billion. But I own 27% of that.”

I don't think Cuban really got played. He knew the new owners could do whatever they wanted, they had control. It was only a matter of time until he had no say in BB ops. And it happened quickly. He was ready to cash out and move on. And it still has a chunk he can cash in.
