I could talk myself into giving up our 2031 first for RJ Barrett if he had a bit more length. His wingspan of 6'10" is just one inch more than Kevin Porter Jr. and Gary Trent while being about the same as Ryan Rollins. We need to find a way to get some legit length at the 3 with someone that doesn't suck like Kuz.

I'm against picking up a small guard creator (Monk), unless that guy is seemingly better at it than KPJ already (i.e. Garland, as unlikely as that is, like Dame & Turner...). I don't want to step on KPJ's toes in this regard. It would likely make us worse. The upgrade should be at the 2/3 otherwise.

Always makes me chuckle when a team’s fanbase swears there’s “no chance” player XYZ is available or that we’ll have to massively overpay for all their favorite guys and then a bunch of local reporting comes out and is like “nah, they’ve been shopping him” lol.

How can ge not be alot better thsn kuzma
DeRozan is a 6 time All-Star that plays the majority of every season.
He's not thought of highly because he doesn't shoot or make a lot of threes.
He's absolutely better than Kuzma, but he's also 36 and could be falling off the cliff soon. That's also why a hypothetical trade should be straight up without the Bucks adding sweetener.
He has also said he would have no problem shooting more 3s he did in toronto when he was there

Malik Monk hardly qualifies as a significant name. Summon the fan!

Honestly, what’s the difference between Malik Monk and Coby White? I don’t know why we’re good with spending a future first on one guy and not the other (I’m not giving up the 2031 for either dude).

3 team trade between Kangz, Craptors and Bucks. Kuz to Kangz, Monk to Craptors and Barrett to Bucks works

Main problem with Monk for me is defense. Metrics suggest he's a very poor defender, and that should eliminate him from serious consideration.

Volume and team value are probably the only 2 distinctions you can make between them. I’d imagine White means more to Chicago than Monk does to Sacramento.

Thats the thing...a connected guy would be pretty dialed in. His idea of a significant guy may be different than even some of us.
Still...Monk probably doesn't qualify.

His best play comes when he's handling the ball and making plays for his teammates or attacking downhill. Sure, he can knock down an occasional 3 if you give him time to spot up, but he's not going to be navigating around screens having defenders chase him or finding pockets of space to shoot 3's for Giannis to find him.
Giddey would have been a great get last summer simply for Middleton. And he moves the rock a lot. Like Kukoc did. Would have helped quite a bit a Giannis at 5 lineup. But no, I don’t want us to give up assets and pay him $150mm at this stage.

Coby White is 6-5”. And shoots a much better three ball. Much different situation than Monk. I’d take White in a heartbeat and consider using a top one protected 2031 or 2032 . The only issue is that he’s owed $12mm this year and then becomes a UFA I believe. You’ve got to pay him.

White's demonstrated more efficiency against starting units. This season was the 1st time Monk started most games. Posted a ts% of 54.9. White's was over 60%. White's been a consistently good outside shooter. Monk shot 32.5% this year.
White's sort of the dividing line on giving up 1st for me. Haven't decided which side I fall on. But it's a false-equivalency between him and Monk, especially for us.

If Bucks fans source was in the know of the Lillard/Turner shuffle then yeah, I’d say he’s dialed in and connected. That remains a mystery unless we ever get any clarification there? Don’t want to sound like a hater or non believer, just looking for more juice. From the tidbit we got, a significant name sounds more like big game hunting and Malik Monk wouldn’t meet that criteria, for me at least. I’m thinking more around that 30m range/ newly crowned 2nd highest paid player on the team, that’s where my brain goes when I think “significant name”.

White's 6'3.5 w/out shoes, only has a 6'5 wingpan, & isn't strong. Doesn't really have a notable physical component. He is a small guard in this day and age. So he has a pretty high creative standard.
The contract is a problem & solution, like w/ Reaves. Makes them a lot more acquirable now. And you figure they're not max guys. I'm more willing to use pick(s) on Reaves due to him being bigger & a better passer. White I'd be on the fence on. Advantage if he'd sign the extension ahead.

Man two of my trade dream targets being linked to us in Monk and White. Have liked both quite a bit in the past and think both could be even better playing off Giannis. Although i agree that 31 1st is big ask for Monk if we can add say top ten or lotto protection to it changes equation. White on the other hand is damn near worth the unprotected risk especially when combined with getting rid of Kuz. For the Monk doubters go look at how almost all the Sac fan boards love him and dont want him moved. He is electric athlete and has highly underrated handle. Think he would mesh extremely well with Giannis led offense. His ability to get to the rim would really shine here like never before imo. However his defense is definitely a concern.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

I suspect that no matter how connected they were they woul not have been sharing information about Turner before it was reported on due to the element of surprise required to pull that off.

Well sure, I’d take Reaves over any of those guys. Problem is it will cost real players or three 1st rounders.

Interested in the pro-Monk perspective.
Because when I play with the trade machine I don’t see many (any?) teams that’d give up much for him at the moment.
And the Kings have a huge logjam in the backcourt while being extremely thin up front.
