Maybe we have to live with him being an unstable 60-75% FT shooter. In the end it's only like 1-2 points difference. If he makes 1-2 threes per game thats 3-6 points extra on his game anyway.

I doubt it's 3-6 points extra, I mean it's not like if he didn't shoot it he would just leave it on the floor and jog back to D. Normally he would just try to get in the paint and kill somebody again and again, and I dare say that usually something good comes out of that. But yeah we have discussed this to death, I ll just leave it and be happy like everybody else that he makes 3s :D

That quote you pulled is the whole ballgame. Obviously, I'd love to see the Bucks win the title, but it's those moments that will resonate more than a chip with me. I can't remember much from the Toronto series save for FVV becoming fire incarnate and the inescapable feeling that the Bucks couldn't match Nurse's scheme adjustments, but I do remember in the 2018 Celts series when Hubie Brown anticipated Giannis going for takeoff before he even gathered and the time Giannis backhand saved a ball on the baseline against the Raps in a regular season game. That's what will stay with me.

It's sort of the like the difference between Karl Malone and Charles Barkley. The Mailman is the better power forward. He was a better defender. He was in excellent shape for the duration of his career. He accumulated impressive stats. Alas, basketball is a game of aesthetics and 10/10 times give me young Chuck rampaging baseline to baseline or working the trampoline down low against guys half a head taller than him.

Two plays stood out at the game on Monday. The play at about 30s when he somehow gets the ball up to the rim for the And-1 (Miss you Greg).

And the play with 16s left where he just straight outruns the guy guarding him by 10 feet in a 50 foot race.

Giannis 3 pt percentage now up to 33.8%

Notables whose 3 pt percentage he now tops on his way to being the GOAT...

Bradley Beal - 33.3 :o (Max Contract SHOOTING Guard)
Andrew Wiggins - 33.3
Kristaps Porzingis - 33.3 (Who's the Unicorn now?)
Pat Beverley - 32.7 (Giannis says,"I'll show you some 3 and D")
Luka Doncic - 32.6
Tobias Harris - 31.7

Obviously he had the 5 3s last night, but beyond the volume, felt like he took a much wider variety of them and with a fluidity we haven't seen. Hitting them from deep, hitting them in AD's face. I think he's fully turned the corner on this thing. I never really expected it to happen but obviously had it in my head that this is Giannis and he does nothing if not exceed expectation.

Giannis in December:

33.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 57.6 FG%, 44.7 3P%, 65.5 TS%, 41.9 usage rate, 28.6 minutes

For the math disinclined, he's scoring 42.8 points per 36 minutes in December at obscene efficiency. If this keeps up it may be the greatest calendar month of regular season basketball ever played. The idea that anybody else would win MVP should universally be considered preposterous.

Nobody's ever cracked 32 in PER for a full season and Giannis is at 34.75.

I am pretty sure it will hold up for the rest of the year.Under Kidd he would probably get tired and have his usual slump around January but with the way Bud is managing his minutes it won't happen(same as last year).Great stuff!

Giannis is going to the Lakers! They have Kidd & Kostas. [/green]

The brothers trading jerseys last night was great.

I knew Giannis could hit the trey. All about getting used to his bigger body, practice & confidence. Kidd killed his confidence. See him saying I was hitting these shots 4-5 years ago, ie before Jason told me I couldn't shoot them. Ie, "it doesn't matter if I hit none , one, two or five... Coach wants me to shoot". I don't know, sounds like shots fired at Kidd. Right after facing his team. Lol.

I just think it's wild that the dominant narrative around Harden is that he's such an overwhelming scorer and offensive player, with the consensus that he's the hardest guard, the hardest to gameplan, with some even going so far as saying he's the best offensive player of all time. And he's never in his life had a month (combining extreme volume and extreme efficiency) like the one Giannis is having right now. It's flying under the radar because he's only scoring 33.9 per game.

Somebody in the media's going to pick up on this and it'll change some minds, although 5 3s against the Lakers might change them first, for the wrong reasons.

Bill Simmons and Lowe in the Lowe podcast metnioned that in per 36 minutes Giannis has basically the same points as Harden. Even the PPG people will soon be left with nothing to use. People are starting to catch up to what their logic basically tell them.

I hadn't even noticed that: 36.7 Harden, 36.5 Giannis.

Exactly.

Even if you consider per 100 possessions, Giannis is scoring 46.5 per 100 possessions and Harden is scoring 47.1 per 100 possessions. Basically no difference.

Yeah, I listened to that the other day. With the two recent curb stompings of the LA teams, the NBA media has now put Giannis clearly as the best player in the league. No more equivocating or conditional compliments. They're starting to talk about him basically as the new LeBron.

If he can get two titles in the next three years, he then becomes the third name in the LeBron/Jordan debate.
