I think Dame get's too much hate. Here is the problem. Jackson/Prince/Brook. It has to be the worse starting 3 among every single playoff team. I would even take Jones/Dunn/Richards before them.

Moving Lillard is not the answer. Obviously Giannis is off the limits. Just do whatever it takes to upgrade at least one of the other starting jobs. Flipping Midds for Jimmy at the cost of Bobby is still the best option IMO.

The Suns are doing the right thing. They know they cant win it with what they have and they are in a worst position then we are cap wise. That's why moving on from Dame is not a bad idea if we can't do anything else .

I don’t catch many games, but Prince has looked absolutely fine to me. He isn’t anything more than a bigger Tony Snell but paid vet min.

If there is a trade out there were we can basically swap Dame for KD and Horst doesn't pull the trigger. Horst needs to face criminal charges.

Just for fun

FVV, AJJ, Wright
Green, Ajax
Eason, Trent
Durant, Bobby
Giannis, Adams

I’d look to see if Bobby plus Adams could net you an athletic defensive 5 upgrade (over Adams)

Sign me up for this all day, every day and I don’t hate Dame at all.

The issues are he's not necessarily a strong enough defender to complement Dame, Brook when he doesn't match up, Middleton when they're in the same lineups, etc.

And maybe the bigger problem is he's always been a bad rebounder. If you're playing w/ Brook you need the others to range and secure them. Can't just rely on Giannis. When our 2 isn't Ajax, that compounds the issue.

Plus he tries to do too much offensively. I'd maybe live w/ this if the fit were changed. But as our roster is presently constructed, he's a moderate negative for us.

Dame, GTJ to Miami for Butler, Ware, with Miami paying to send Pat to a 3rd team.

Then Bobby and Delon to Atlanta in a 4 team deal, Bobby assets (Nance landing on unknown 4th team) and our 1st to Pelicans, Herb Jones to Lakers, Austin Reaves is our new PG.

That's a big overpay for Jimmy IMO

Then they can throw in picks.

The important part is Jimmy, Reaves, Ware is better than Dame, Prince, Portis

OKC should dump a bunch of firsts to take KD back. Would be a really cool story line and he's also exactly what they need from a basketball standpoint.

We need a better 2, whether that means a trade or promoting Green. And we need a different big for match-ups at least.

That said, Dame is at fault for his own contribution. He's the common denominator in the rollercoaster the last 2 regular seasons, and his disengagement on d, & sometimes o, is palpable.

And trading him can be a matter of not letting that core asset expire, rather extending that w/ a younger guy. Some feel that shouldn't be procrastinated on lest risk losing it. I'm ambivalent about that & Midds staying. Depends what you get. We'll get much more for Dame.

Prince would be more than fine off the bench as a 3D stretch four. The issue is he isn’t a good starting SF if you want to be a contender. AJJ is also not a good starting SG if you want to be a contender. Brook is also too slow to handle starters minutes on a contender.

If I were Horst, I’d try this:
Split up the 2031 1st into multiples
Bucks get Butler, Duren
Miami gets Midds, Portis, Wright, two firsts
Pistons get PatC, Marjon, first and 2031 2nd
(AJ Johnson or Livingston can be inserted for Wright and/or Marjon if either team needs a sweetener)

Sign Rollins and any mobile big to fill out the roster. Move AJG into the starting lineup.
Dame/Rollins
AJG/Trent
Butler/AJJ
Giannis/Prince
Duren/Brook

Close games with Dame/AJG/Trent or Prince/Butler/Giannis

What about Dame, Lopez, Khris, Pat C for Butler, Bam, Herro?

Why does Miami do it? IDK...I figured we are throwing random ideas out there and I like that one.

Would love to get Claxton. He’d be great in a Bucks jersey. He’s exactly what we need. Throw in Khris so we can get Cam Johnson back to!

Dont know if many of you watch Suns game, but Durant stands in the corner like 70% of the time.

Their issue is the HAVE to make the playoffs this year so their protected pick is conveyed. If they keep Jimmy and miss the playoffs, then he opts in and causes another year of chaos, and they miss the playoffs next season, that pick is unprotected.

So getting off the Jimmy crazy train and getting anyone who can even marginally improve their chances to get out of the playin is probably worth it. Especially if their contract(s) don’t go beyond next season. Midds and Portis would certainly help raise their floor and are both off the books by end of next season.

Jimmy is not opting out as no contender has cap space to sign him to a max deal. He will opt in and continue being a nightmare for them.

Can he hit open catch and shoot shots better than Dame? If so, that’s an upgrade. He’ll definitely be a better defender since it’s hard to be a worse defender than Dame.

Zero chance. They value Bam and Herro. They simply want something for Jimmy to help them get to the playoffs this season while also not taking in salary beyond next season (when Jimmy was set to expire).

After that they have all their picks and a ton of cap space so they’ll try to lure another free agent or trade for a star to bring to South Beach.

In the meantime, I assume they plan to keep letting Herro develop and feeding minutes to Ware.

This is why Bobby and Midds seems like a good starting point for Butler. They raise the floor of that team to at least get past the playin. Plus neither is a long term salary commitment. Heck, if a star become available via trade in the offseason or next season. Midds expiring salary helps the pursuit. (Midds is 100% opting in)

I think the Lakers make a hard push for either Claxton or Robert Williams. They would be our competition. I fully agree our biggest need is acquiring a defensive big. I prefer Robert Williams myself.
