We all love the idea of getting pick 4 or 5, but if I recall correctly the only times a team has traded a top five pick and in the process traded themselves out of the top 5 are when the Wizards did it twice, sending the Devin Harris pick to the Mavs and sending the Rubio pick the T-Wolves, additionally Portland dealt the #3 pick in 2005 (Deron) to Utah for #6 Webster plus pick #27.

Teams with top five picks usually don't deal them unless the GM is really stupid like Grunfeld. As others have said, the focus needs to be on picks 6-8, but again we don't really have any good "win now" vets to help the Lakers, Celtics or Kings.

I'm not even thinking about landing another pick that high. If we can get into the top 20 I'd be happy. Some really good guys in there like Warren, Adams, Payton, McDaniels, etc.

Would like to keep Henson if possible, but wouldn't be to heart broken if we dump him as part of a deal to bring in another pick.

That's what happens when you don't have a point guard on this team.

Players like Sanders & Ersan & Henson who create nothing look like garbage. Not saying there aren't other issues with those players, but that's a big one in my opinion.

Henson can create his own shot and does it pretty efficiently. Ideally you want guys that can create efficiently and not be chuckers, but there just aren't a lot of players like that out there. If you can't get those guys you keep the solid role players like Ersan, Sanders, Middleton, etc and hope that a guy like a Jabari or Embiid or possibly Wiggins come along that should elevate everyone's game.

I'm with PP, I just don't see us moving into the Top 10 unless a team like loves Knight or Henson --- which I don't see. Ersan is probably not getting us anything more than a late 1st.

I'd love to snag Ennis if he falls late lottery and we can move up there.

Ennis/Knight/Giannis/Parker/Sanders - Bench: Wolters/Middleton/Henson. 8 pretty solid youthful guys with a couple with high ceilings.

I think there are players all the way down to about 36 in this draft that have the potential to be solid starters and another 5-10 solid role players.

I'd trade Henson for another pick in the Top 10 in a heartbeat. Then again, I was never a big fan of his and I haven't been all that impressed with him in the (admittedly extremely limited, especially this past season) games I've seen him play.

I wonder how our owners will approach bold draft day trades.

How much trust do they have in Hammond if he presents them something?

I feel a little better about it for a couple reasons. Hammond has Morway to help him out and the two new owners seem pretty knowledgeable about the game. I doubt they would allow for a dumb trade to happen.

I continue to be confused by the Morway fascination. The Bucks had an F offseason in many ways last summer in my opinion and Morway was a part of that. If he was helping Hammond out, he did a pretty s****y job.

Who was the PG that created for Ersan/sanders/Henson last season?

Oh absolutely. :) But I think a big part of the Morway fascination is the desire that he can undo the damage Hammond has done or steer the team in the right direction in spite of Hammond. To this point, I've seen no evidence whatsoever he has or can do either one.

Then shouldn't Hammond get a pass too? Just posing the question generally, not saying it directly to you as I don't recall your stance on him.

That's a 200 page debate.

Hammond has 7 years as GM....Morway been on the job for 1 year.

I'd promote Morway and let Hammond walk after the draft if they want some level of familiarity.

Yeah, I don't have faith in Morway, but that said, I think he started in July. I don't think he was on staff when LeAffaire Eric Bledsoe went down on July 2nd. It wouldn't be the end of the world if the new guys promoted Morway.

I'd really prefer a complete clean slate. No one with any ties to the Kohl era in terms of prominent decision making should be retained. They had their shot and failed. Time to bring in someone new and start over. For me, having new owners (while huge) isn't enough. I think an entirely new direction needs to be implemented.

Na, whoever in the front office is making picks and trades in this ultra-important draft, be they Hammond or Morway, needs to at least be given a probationary period until midseason, to ensure their decisions in the interim have integrity. Look at it as a necessary evil. But you can't exactly take away someone's Ferrari, however give them one last drive, and expect them not to f up the car a little in the process.
