The biggest gripe I have for Tobes is that he is absolutely clueless on what to do when the ball isn't in his hands. He really needs the ball in his hands to be effective. This could cause him to be a blackhole on offense, ala corey maggette.

and honestly, Maggette with better post moves, but not near the ability to get to the line may be his ceiling. He's a pretty hard player to gauge.

Definitely agree that he needs to work on his off the ball game, but he's only 20 and has plenty of time to refine that part of his game. His jumper actually looks pretty good up to this point too which obviously helps with spacing.

Henson's footwork is pretty good without the ball as far as moving to get open, his issue is that he has absolutely no idea what to do once he gets the ball. If he's more than 2 feet from the rim he literally can only throw up a hook shot or instantly pass it back out. I don't see how that translates into NBA starting material as a PF.

From the latest Simmons article:

Luc Mbah a Moute (Bucks): 3 years, $13.8 million
Love watching this dude play defense, love listening to opposing announcers mangle his name. You gotta hand it to Bucks GM John Hammond:3 He made three bad signing mistakes (the Drew Gooden/John Salmons/Corey Maggette contracts) and somehow extricated himself from two of them. He bailed on Andrew Bogut's contract at the perfect time. (Sorry, Warriors fans, it's true.) He nailed three first-rounders in four years (Brandon Jennings at 10, Larry Sanders at 15 and John Henson at 14) and smartly traded down in a crappy 2011 draft from 10 (Jimmer Fredette) to 19 (Tobias Harris) while dumping Salmons in the process. Looking at their roster right now, they don't have a single overpaid player except for Monta Ellis4 (probably bolting this summer) and Gooden (an amnesty candidate). Watch what happens this summer when Hammond flips Jennings (eligible for a big extension) for assets to some desperate team that wants to stupidly overpay him — it's the same thing New Orleans should have done with Eric Gordon (and didn't). More on this later.

Tobias Harris (Magic): 4 years, $9.25 million
I remember watching the 20-year-old Harris look good in an early-November Bucks-Celtics game and thinking, Who the hell is Tobias Harris? Wasn't he in that goofy Sacramento/Milwaukee/Charlotte trade that somehow made all three teams worse? Turned out it was his best game of the season — Scott Skiles buried him in December and that was that. Then he ended up being Orlando's big haul in the Redick deal, and within 24 hours, the Magic were giving him Dwight Howard's old number. Intriguing talent.

But what's a star? Danny Granger isn't a "star" but he's probably a top 3 player on a contender. Maybe that's top end of Tobes' potential, but he does have that type of potential.

His ceiling is a top 10 PF/SF, he won't ever be able to guard SF's, just too slow of footwork. Won't be able to guard PF's well either but he'll be far better off.

Weird. His off the ball play is one of his main assets, provided you aren't just asking him to stand in the corner on the weakside. I also don't see much Maggette in him since he's not a ball stopper by any means. He also rarely ever forces bad shots.

Beno and Harris seem to have really good chemistry. Beno just hit him off of a really nice cut into the lane for a midrange jumper. Magic have fought their way back since Tobes came in.

What? Explain how it's a strength in his game. When he was here he would stand in the corner, literally wouldn't move. Do you think our coaching staff told him to not move from the corner? It's probably the main reason he never got off the pine. Dunleavy surely doesn't stand around on offense. I mean we could of ran plays for him but in no way I see that as a strength in his game.

He's not a very willing passer either, he would shoot it the majority of the time he got it, he hasnt average more then 1.5 assist per 36 yet in his career.

When you score as efficiently as Tobes, this really isn't a huge knock on his game. If he was averaging like 3 turnovers, maybe you'd have a case, but he is not.

Tobes really active in the first quarter. Even tried a behind the back pass. Looks like he's happy.

Watch him play. It is obvious. If you don't see it, I don't really know how I can explain it.

Well he did average 2.2 per 36, neither of these stats are really applicable until we get a bigger sample size, most likely

How many players in the league have star potential would you say?

I don't know, but Tobias Harris has more than "star potential", he produces pretty much every time he gets the opportunity.
