As far as I can tell crypto currency is solely a means for large/institution investors to make real currency by manipulating the price via preying on the absurdities of small/individual investor behavior.
It is nothing else.
It is nothing else.

I was trying to find my post about how I had no idea how the market cap of Crypto was 800B (might have been 600B). Looks like it is down to 226B today. I hope you guys haven't been drowning in Ethereum/Ripple/whatever

I think there was just hysterical excitement and people wanted in. I am not really smart on the subject, nor do I have much invested in it, but I think there is something there with it. I am not real educated on the Federal Reserve or their operations, but it would seem as they really aren't backing the dollar with much gold any more and the biggest companies in the world are all banks leaching off the people, something like crypto could be a savior if everything plays out right.

Man, looking at the one year, that stock swings wildly, don't know that I could handle that well as investor, every three months 20% swings.

I don't think you did any research into what it actually is based off of your post.

I should have started with “At this point”. I know what it was intended to be and what it’s become. It’s a largely unregulated and easily manipulated commodity that goes up and down 20-30% all the time for no apparent reason now that there’s a futures market and institutional money involved. Put 2 and 2 together.
If it’s a game you’re playing, good luck.

Constellation just put 4B into Canopy Growth, looks like they think they have the next big drink, should be fascinating watching that stock the next couple of weeks.

All the weed stocks are going through the roof. Canopy up 25%, Cronos up 9%...
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I am curious if it will hold. They were pretty heavily shorted stocks because they are basically at a price that would indicate they are profitable but they really aren't very profitable until after this fall. So I think that announcement triggered a lot of the short activity out of the stock but we will see.
Linton is a pretty sharp CEO, but this actually puts Constellation in a position to control the company which is interesting.

I'm not heavily invested...just a few bucks. That market is so volatile right now I figure I'll just hodl until I learn more about it. I typically only invest in companies with a Price/Book value less than 1 and the weed stocks are at like 7 to 10 or so (ACBFF is less than 3 though so that might be one to keep an eye on).

Curious (/hopefull) if other beer/tobacco/drinks company's will do something like this as well with one of the other weedstocks. Hexo got a JV with Molson, but thats nothing compared to this deal

That Molson deal was not a very good one from what I understand. Molson gets to own some of the IP from Hexo and do what they want with it, so not inconceivable they end up competing with them directly with their own IP. Also won't be shocked if they just try to buy out one of the large ones down the line like Aphria or maybe even Aurora in the future.

I think that is the challenge with investing in the weed stock, they are not really profitable but trading like they are. But honestly, there is going to be a giant market up for grabs, do you (the collective you) really want a company worrying right now about their profitability or do you want them doing whatever it takes to be as profitable as possible beginning Oct 17th? I couldn't care less about profitability before the big go live, it is all about what happens from here on out.

True, but my theory is that the price catches up to the accounting eventually and I'm not smart enough to predict that ahead of time. So I wait for it to happen and then decide what I want to do. It's less time consuming than watching prices every day but probably less fun

Oh yeah, trust me, I get it. But I am already largely invested, mostly in Canopy at this point, so I am certain to be biased about what I think it is going to end up being! YUUUUGGGGEEE

I bought into CGC about 3 weeks ago when they were about $26 per share. Feeling really good right now.

Looks like the weed stocks resisted the sell-off this morning. Most are in positive territory again.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
