this is a surprising move. I am unsure of Kidd as a coach for all the young players that are on this team. I am happy Drew will be replaced though, he is clueless.

Safe? Safe like Lincoln at the Ford Theater that night of the John Wilkes Booth play.

Jason Kidd is coming in as their "coach" instead of possibly as POBO now, being presumably hired directly by the owners.

I don't want Hammond here, but the play being run in the play book is vintage Kohl. Let's just hope these guys are able to execute the play better than Kohl, because we are all going to sink or swim together on this.

If they wanna go the Kohl route and meddle, I'm fine with it because I know they have knowledge about CURRENT Nba players and situations. Kohl was living in the past. These guys can hopefully get stuff done that actually helps us win and not 8th seed mediocrity. I know if I was the owner I'd probably employ myself along with some people on here to be the GM and scouts :D

Why did the owners allow drew to be in the Parker press conference

Well even if we don't get Jason Kidd as our coach, and I definitely don't want him; Larry Drew has to be fired. There is no way you pull this off in the media and keep him. Fire Larry and get a decent coach in here, not the kidd.

As exciting as it has been around here since Lasry & Edens took over it's about to get turned up a notch as we see if the Nets will accept the 2nd round compensation for Kidd, who the president will be and if we are going to be hiring a new GM. Also, I would expect that we have some trades on the way with possibly Mayo, Ilyasova, etc. Wasn't long ago the only excitement we had was a close loss. I'll take this kind of excitement over an exciting loss any day. Man some of you sound like you would rather go back to the Herb Kohl era. So what our new owners aren't perfect and there will be some bumps along the road.

I understand what you are saying but I disagree. We didn't have a coach yet, and if nothing ever came to fruition in hiring a new one, it would've been pretty awkward telling Larry Drew you aren't able to come to the presser....

This reminds me of a comedy sketch I saw where a kid came home from college and told his parents, who were extremely religious, that he was gay. They freaked out on him and got really upset but then he told them that he just kidding, but he did flunk out of college. They were so relieved that him failing college didn't even seem that bad to them.

When the most initial reports made it sound like Kidd was going to be our head coach, I didn't really like it, but now after the whole PBOB debacle, I'm much more okay with him as just head coach.

Well played, L & E.

With no GM in place Kohl hires Dunleavy as coach with a fat contract. Then he can't find a GM (surprise) because GM's want to be able to select their own coach. So Kohl makes Dunleavy GM. Disaster follows...
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

We didn't have a new coach yet. Would've been awkward and would've raised speculation that would've taken the focus off of Jabari. It's fine.

well you know what drew will do with our youth. if you can't, just try and picture walters, giannis, henson and rad on our bench while sessions and adrien played 35+ min

If Milwaukee sticks to their word and doesn't cave, I'll be very happy with this move. A 2nd rounder I can deal with.

Indeed, but it's still bizarre.

Um ... doesn't the NBA have tampering rules in place??? What's the storyline on Lasry/Edens talking to a coach who is under contract? You do that in the NFL and you're getting roasted over the coals, I'd bet.

They'll all just basically be yes men for the whoever the new POBO ends up being anyway. It's not that big of a deal in my opinion.

But you had to expect that the new owners would be picking the coach. They just spent $550 million to buy the team. They are going to be involved.

My suspicion is that Kidd will be hired first and then he will pick a GM that he can work with. It's the way of sports nowadays. Coaches are more important than the FO types.

L&E basically had 1 month to prepare for the draft once the sale was officially went through. Then you need to interview your candidates, get them in position, and then you're asking them to make 3 2nd round draft picks. Doesn't make sense.
