I really don't care too much if Giannis is an efficient three-point shooter next season, as long as he has reasonable overall efficiency. I just hope he continues to shoot from the perimeter regularly next season. If teams ever start closing out on him or at least taking token effort to deny him a wide open shot, then his slashing could be really dangerous. He doesn't need to be a great outside shooter, but he could much easier become a higher usage half court player if he was willing to shoot from outside and some gravity as a spot-up shooter is necessary for him to play next to Jabari and MCW.

Although the reverse is even more true - MCW in particular needs to be able to hit shots from outside to effectively complement Giannis, or really all of his teammates, since a guard with a poor outside shot hurts spacing more than a combo-forward with a poor outside shot.

But if Giannis starts hitting outside shots, he can become a more effective half-court scorer and can be given greater responsibility in the offense as a result.

Huge game vs Spain on Monday. Should see a lot of Giannis vs Mirotic.

Highlights of the game (a 3 pointer and a nice alley-oop dunk by Giannis in there)

Giannis's dunk was also selected as Top Play of the Day:

Yep, I'll feel the same when Jabari is playing for you guys. :)

Come to think of it, it is worth cheering Giannis on through the tournament as the first two teams get Olympic qualification. I'd rather him playing some friendlies next offseason before the Olympics than another tournament.

But I do hope Greece plays well and Giannis dominates. I just want him to return 100% healthy during that process :)

The more confident Giannis gets with his three ball, the more the league has no chance stopping this guy.

Next game:

Quarterfinal
Tuesday 15 September : Greece - Spain 18:30 CET (11:30 AM CT Zone)

While Spain hasn't delivered as expected so far. They are always a force to reckon with.
And unfortunately they are our "daemons" as we tend to lose (hands down in many cases) , even in tournaments were we where playing better.

So far only Pau Gasol is playing amazing. Last game he had 6/7 3 pts ! And who will guard him effectively at the line, is a good question.

My dream scenarios are :

1) We dominate totally.
or
2) We are down 67-68 Rudy Fernandez has the ball and all 24'' left, he tries to pass by Giannis, Giannis steals the ball (and hopefully Rudy ends on the floor in a humiliating way) and he dunks for 69-68 while we hear the buzzer

But I will settle for any "minor nerve wracking" win...

it's like preseason football...i just want to see some promising play (fluid 3 pt shooting, good facilitating, etc...) and no injuries for giannis.

i don't care about his final stat lines or the outcome of the games (sorry greece dudes).

Giannis Antetokounmpo hits 10-for-12 from deep, does the gun-holster celebration, runs to locker room.

His shot looks good to me, and he's taking them at game speed.. he's never going to be a great shooter but it definitely should help his game. I'm more worried about how he gets buckets near the basket and his shooting off the dribble. If he wants to handle the rock he'll need a decent pull up.

Eh if by great you mean Dirk, Durant, Bird type shooting, then sure. But I see no reason why he can't become a terrific midrange shooter and good 3 point shooter 5, 6, 7+ years from now.

And he already has moves to get shots off the dribble I would say. Crossovers, turnaround fades, stepbacks, pullups, he has quite a few tricks in his bag. Not super refined but he's definitely got the tools. The problem is that his jumper just hasn't been consistent enough nor has he had anywhere near the freedom (coaching) or desire to let it fly. Once he can actually knock down jumpers I expect to see a lot more nasty moves off the dribble.
