Many rightfully wanted Bud out during the Nets series but he did a bang up job working out how to win multiple series with 5/6 playable guys. He has his flaws but he's our guy and that's alright.

I thought about spoiler tags, but I figured nearly SEVEN YEARS had been enough time passed.

It's just a dream sequence?...

I’m high on George Hill, but if he is running out of gas (or gets hurt again), we’ll need that guard depth quick.

If we got a starting caliber sg in exchange for 2 of those guys (ideally pat and allen), i think we would be better off. Jrue, DDV, Hill, along with the guy we just get is excellent guard depth.

Will he be a situational defensive specialist who can hit wide open 3's, or more of an end of bench guy who might not even beat out Thanasis in the rotation?

Took a look at the Celtics board thread and (all caveats aside about Boston fans and their salty clam chowda) few seem to be shedding any tears about losing him:

Semi sucks at doing anything basketball related besides shooting 3's and playing physical D on big dudes. If you can put him in a role where all he does is that, you probably can get a rotation player out of him.

before last year he got plenty of minutes at the 3. Certainly he can play against some SF.

I was like fire Bud even if we win it all till I saw Giannis post game on court speech, the hug with him and Khris and the emotions ... and I was like f**k it keep the man for the sake of chemistry. There is a real bond there with Giannis, I would not mess up right now. He is like a father figure for Giannis emotionally. So let em all happy and comfortable and see how they perform.

Do you have particular players in mind?

We just acquired Allen so I suspect if we were to make a consolidation trade it’d be Donte on the outs.

Pat though seems like such a value on his contract that I have a hard time seeing deals worth including him in (especially considering our luxury tax considerations).

But if we don’t deal Pat it’s hard to generate enough salary to make more substantial trades, but even then it’s not like he makes so much money that a world of options opens up even if we were willing to cash out on Connaughton.

Contrary to what I was saying 6-12 months ago, I just can't see Pat being traded right now. You'll struggle to replace that contribution and cohesion at his current price point. Simply needs to be kept around unless in a deal too good to refuse.

UNLESS, come trade deadline time, they're concerned he'll opt out next offseason and decide to cash in on his current value. Maybe flip him for a recent first rounder who's underwhelmed so far but has a contract to match and is locked in for a couple more years.

It’s a good show. Frustrating at times with what they did with certain characters though.

That’s a very injury prone guard rotation, plus with hill being old as hell and Jrue right behind him in age. Pat is probably 90% of the player Donte is but will cost half as much but plays twice as many games.

To me it’s pretty clear that ddv is on his way out with them trying to trade him last year, him getting hurt again, and them basically trading for his replacement. I would bet he’s gone by the deadline for sure.

Dejounte Murray, Bojan Bogdanovic, OG Anunoby?

You should watch more than just the first season.

I definitely should not. My life would be infinitesimally better if I didn't watch the first season.

The more I think about it the more I'm seeing a great, great rivalry with the Nets and Bucks for the next 3 years in the East. And it will be tough but I think we'll get out of the East at least once more in that period, maybe twice if we're lucky. Nets have a lot going for them but they're getting older and have a bad history with injuries, Bucks are probably less talented overall but have the Championship momentum and confidence and are now a veteran, finetuned team.

Can't wait :)

Connaughton’s versatility also is a big value point.

He can play 2, 3, and even some 4 situationally. And he’s proven he has the cajoles to step up in the playoffs when it counts, so even when rotations tighten he is likely to be able to pick his spots somewhere.

Basically I just can’t us is trading him on the cheap. Pat is beyond a filler contract kind of valuation.
