Amir Coffey could be interesting

I really like Amir, but he's a RFA right? That could cause an issue, they'd match the offer.

Diakite hung with the team all last offseason, and then was cut before camp. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I'd say the spacing is more than "a little bit" off considering you have one postseason 3PT shooter above 30% in that proposed starting-5. Thought we already kinda litigated the Simmons stuff a while back. Beyond the massive red flags of getting a serious back injury while sitting at home and the extreme fragility of his mental state, the fit with Giannis on offense might be the worst modern pairing I can think of between two "star" players. Like Kyrie, his complete unreliability makes him a net-negative on the basketball court.

They have non-bird rights only, can't match a tax MLE offer without their tax MLE. They can offer him 120% raise but it's nowhere close to the tax MLE.

I think we can manage one more non shooter as long as that player does other things to make space, like cutting, setting screens, vertical spacing. Simmons gravitates towards the ball and does nothing of that. I think the offensive fit would be atrocious unless the plan is to move Giannis off ball (and that's a mistake too imo).

Simmons is a disaster until proven otherwise. And not even because of his back.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

teams would be foolish to guarantee him very much.

Teams do foolish things all the time, like giving George Hill a 2 yr deal.

You mean the guy who had the second-best +/- on the team last year?
Some of you guys don't realize how important it is to have some guys on the team who don't get in the way of the big three and who make few mistakes.

Simmons-Jrue-Middleton-Giannis-Bamba or Portis

That would be the best defense in the league. The spacing is a little off, but I don't care. As long as Simmons is 100% healthy I take it.

Replace Bamba/Portis with a switchable 3&D small ball 4/5, and it would be insane on defense, for sure. And they could get a lot of offense in transition.
Though I would only take Simmons if they're giving him away, and the team is constructed so that it doesn't rely on him. Because you can't count on him to play.

Good for PJ securing the bag so late in his career but Im not locking a 37 year old roleplayer into a deal like that. Philly is a mentally immature team so they’d probably benefit the most from his locker room presence.

Simmons had back surgery on a herniated disk, no thanks

JFC on the PJ Tucker thing. Both from the standpoint we punted on him, and for the fact only the Bucks get truly tagged for starting free agency early.

Bucks should be given a 2nd round pick back. Free agency is absolutely buckwild with early deals.

Don't think anyone is ignoring it. It comes with the territory when you're 36 years old.
