Not hundert percent sure about the new 2nd Apron rules. Is

Bucks: Stewart, Vanderbilt
Lakers: Lopez
Detroit: Russell, Beauchanp

legal? FanSpo says so but according to my understanding it’s not.

Pat + Bobby for Grant Williams saves you about $9m. Thats close to opening the full TPMLE....

Mathematically, thats like trading Bobby and Pat for Grant and whoever you sign for the mle. But also, Grant Williams is so gd annoying

I would absolutely trade Pat + Bobby for Grant Williams and Lonnie Walker.

"In the midst of a flop of an offseason" is an absolutely hilarious way to characterize our offseason. He covers the NBA professionally so he should know our situation. What exactly was he expecting us to do?

I get that their job is to generate content and clicks, but as pointed out, we're two days in to the offseason and the type of moves we are destined to make, come after some of the higher profile stuff breaks. KOC's blurb would be totally appropriate two weeks from now. Also, its probably not fair to crap on our rookies until after summer league at the earliest, when we can at least see how they look vs other summer leaguers.

An argument against KOC's thoughts would be that I don't think Kolek or Scheierman would offer us that much. We'd still get clowned for drafting guys who can't defend. Shannon; however, seems like a miss to me.

"Why didn't the Bucks just sign Paul George and trade Pat Connington and Robert Portis Jr. for Luka Doncic? What a strange offseason."

I guess if we had drafted a backup PG, it would be a good offseason instead of a flop.

Should be financially legal. We save enough money to get under the 2nd apron, so we're able to aggregate the salaries together. Lakers are just making a 1 for 1 trade (and I think are under the apron anyways) so they're fine. It eats into Detroit's cap space a bit, but yeah, seems legal to me.

The only thing that's fair to critique is the use of the draft picks. I've been harping as much as anyone that expecting rookies to contribute towards a championship is statistically/historically nigh impossible. But I think pretty much any other use of those picks would have been way more appropriate given our circumstances. Like, not finding a taker for one or both of those picks to either A) kick the can down the road and acquire future tradeable draft assets, or B) package those picks with salary for an immediate starter/rotation guy does make me question what the plan even is here.

We are sending out and receiving the same amount of salary ($25.7MM). We would need to make another trade beforehand to get us below the 2nd apron.

Pretty much.

In the meantime, I'm back in the lab. Making sure the armaments are in full working condition.

Come summer league...brother, the Take Cannon (cannon-cannon-cannon) will be ready. Good night, Saigon, er Sheboygan.

The problem is it takes two to tango and we'll never know if those picks held any actual value. There weren't any draft night/day deals that saw picks in the Bucks range being moved for useful vets.

Similarly, we don't know the value of Bobby, Brook, Pat, or Khris until they're moved. Maybe they've got a bunch of value and Horst is weighing his options. Or maybe the offers suck and the Bucks are better off holding onto them for now.

We won't know until moves are actually made, if they get made at all.

Maybe we should have drafted a sg who could have maybe contributed just as much as Wright. Bar is set pretty low.

I forgot to add Vanderbilt when I looked at it :banghead: So yeah, we'd have to add Pat to the trade and you could send him to either team and it would work.

I agree with RS on the draft picks. My guess is that they held very little value. Many teams didn’t view 22-30 more than second rounders. And I don’t think teams wanted to pay first round salary for a guy they saw as second round talent. Just a hunch.

What about a framework of John Isaac for Lopez(I’m sure other things need to be included)? Seems like a great player to pair with Giannis

True, but the Knicks traded #26 for five 2nd-round picks. The Suns traded back just six spots in the late-1st and picked up three additional 2nd-rounders. The Blazers packaged #14 and salary (Brogdon) for Deni. These are the kind of margins moves I think we needed to make here.

Ignoring the politics side of it, Isaac would be a great fit. Orlando is reportedly working to extend him though.

If we could somehow convert Lopez, Bobby, Pat and/or Marjon into Smart and Isaac, I’d like the direction. Can’t really care about the politics when we are debating signing women beaters.

PG Dame, Wright
SG Smart, AJ Green, AJJ2
SF Midds, AJJ1
PF Giannis, Livingston, Smith
C Isaac, Theis?

Need some depth pieces, Gordon Hayward? But that top 8 or so looks like a championship team.
