Amazing scheduling from the NBA. First week without any football. Small slate Thursday, basically nothing Friday and then all star activities.

Would much rather see this be some version of Xmas schedule than this crap.

Warriors lost to the depleted Mavericks this week too. And beat the Giannis-less Bucks. I'm not ready to anoint them contenders yet.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

They wait until football is over for the all-star weekend, which makes sense. The all-star game last year drew 5.5 million viewers, which is more than the Xmas day games averaged. Personally I don't care about the ASG but it is relatively popular.

That's 1 game compared to 5 and those Xmas games were going against football. I would say with the majority of the nation begging to watch something this weekend. It might be a good idea to put your best product out there.

Instead of the tired storyline about how bad the ASG is bc the media is lazy and there's no other story line come Monday.

The ASG still draws decent ratings despite the fact that every year they feel the need to tinker and change everything about the format, rules, "draft", etc. Silver is an out of touch moron. Maybe do something to address the pathetic state of the regular season instead of devoting all your energy to the absolutely meaningless exhibition games/slate of the NBA schedule? But hey, I get it, gotta prioritize your dumb Vegas tournament and get those 2-3 preseason games in Dubai cuz that blood money from Saudi Arabia/UAE is what's really important here.

I get it. But the week+ long break for most of the players is a good idea in the insanely long 6 month, 82 game season.

Then send them on vacation during super bowl week.

SGA is ahead of Jokic in the most recent MVP straw poll, which I have to admit to being pretty surprised by. The previous poll which was right before the IST finals had Jokic with 57 first place votes, SGA with 24 and Giannis with 19 and the most recent numbers have SGA with 70 and Jokic with 30. I agree more with the current numbers, but I have no earthly idea how you go from Jokic to SGA over the last couple months. Its not like Jokic's numbers have dipped at all in the last couple months and its not like SGA's numbers have seen an appreciable increase (although they are a little better than they were). And before the IST finals the Nuggets were barely over .500 and were one bad week away from being firmly in the play-in mix and they're currently on the longest winning streak in the NBA (granted its not exactly against a murderer's row of opponents) and are a 0.5 games out of 2nd place in the West. Conversely, OKC continues to play great, but the operative word there being continues.

They just decided they're going with SGA because they like OKC's story and they don't want to give it to Jokic again if they can come up with a reason not to.

Who's the last MVP to be traded on their first contract, I wonder (draft night trades notwithstanding). Has it ever happened in the modern era?

I understand that hard core fans like us can't sustain the NBA (or any sports league) and they need to go after casuals but I hate this ****. I mean, I work with AI now all the time and it's cool, but in this context? No thanks.

Having robo-crabs throw your cheap t-shirt to you in the stadium is really going to enhance that live experience.
