I'm actually shocked the Bucks stated that he was out for the year, thought they might try and string the fan base along at least through today, the final day to accept playoff tickets as a season ticket holder. With opening day getting all the press and it being a Monday, some people might not even know Bogut got injured yet.
The points you make PP25 are 100% accurate. We don't need to know every detail, but how about saying something to us, like perhaps what the surgery was on. And Mike Redd updates would be good too, I want him off the team as much as the next guy, but he's been a big part of this team and hearing some news would be good.
***EDIT*** wtf is my post doing first?

I'm going to sticky this rant for a day hoping it will get someone's attention at either the Cousin's Center or the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel crew or Jim Paschke as I think he has some accountability here as well, being an employee and fan liason for the team.
While the loss of Bogut is a terrible blow for all parties involved, including the fanbase, the Bucks could use this situation to take a step forward in terms of injury disclosure and thus improve fan relations.
This core fanbase is highly sophisticated and interested in the team. We deserve to know what has taken place as it relates to medical procedures stemming from public on-court injuries. This team has never been forthcoming on anything medical over the past decade.
There was never a public disclosure of the exact nature of the injuries suffered by TJ Ford, Bobby Simmons, Michael Redd and now we may be going down the same road with Andrew Bogut. We were all left to guess whether the player was coming back in two-weeks, two-months or maybe never.
Are we asking for definitive timetables on when a player will return to the court? Not at all. People simply want to know specific details on the injury and the surgery (if applicable). Fans can then make their own assessments as to the timetable for return. And the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel could add to this by interviewing sport medicine experts to get their take on the recovery period needed.
By way of example, our highest paid player, Michael Redd, had follow up surgery over a month ago, yet there has been no report of what the procedure entailed and how things went. Does anyone here think that Aaron Rodgers could blow out his knee a second time and we'd get no stories on what the surgeons actually did? No stories on the recovery prognosis?
No fan is asking for confidential personal information regarding medical conditions. Simply a disclosure of public injuries and surgeries. NBA teams all employee significant medical due diligence teams when trading for a player. It is not as if there is some competitive advantage to say "hide" Michael Redd's surgery procedure from other teams. They'd be entitled to all that detail if they wanted to trade for him.
Aren't we fans entitled to better treatment here?

Plus, they already said he's out for the season, so it's not like they'll sell more tickets if they keep it quiet. It just makes us speculate that the injury is worse than they say it is.

Note to Charles Gardner-when it is Monday, and you say Bogut is going to get surgery on Monday without classifying whether that is today or a week from today, you are a clown. Well, you're a clown anyway, but this only further adds to it.
This is well needed though PP. It's been ridiculous for far too long.

What prompted me to put it up were the user comments from the MJS link. A number of those guys also wanted more details and pointed out the lack of anything substantive in the past with other players. We have a bad history here among both the Bucks and MJS. And again I won't let Jim Paschke off the hook either. He reads this board.
I can understand the situation right now being very fluid. But I think we are all owed some specific details in the day or two after the surgery along with a Charles Gardner piece where he quotes a few orthopaedic guys, even if anonmously ala Bob McGinn. Then the Bucks should help Gardner with some research and point out other guys with similar elbow or hand injuries and how quickly (or not) they were back on the court.
By the way, we need this exact same story regarding Michael Redd. By virtue of his salary, his medical situation is as material to the franchise as Bogut's.

I really think you guys ask for too much. Yeah, we are all obsessive fans, but we all need to relax.
How much info do you really need? It was a weird injury with a lot of swelling and pain. I bet Bogut didn't even think about his hand until the second xray.
Timeline:
Bogut has x-rays at BC
-Within 30 minutes Woelfel reports the results of said tests
Bogut has 2nd set of test
-Bucks immediately call wssp to say Bogut isn't in the clear
-within a few hours the results are reported by both Gardner and Woelfel
Bogut has another set of test on his hand Sunday
-Both Gardner and Woelfel report that that he is having surgery today
Do you really need the Bucks PR department to produce the x-ray and give a full detail report on which hand is broken within 48 hours? Let Bogut get out of surgery and then see if the Bucks give an official timeline.
Yes, Bucks coverage has been bad, but what more do you expect? There has been a lot of reports in a short amount of time with little information and a Holiday weekend to boot.

Agreed with MCOTR.
Bogut's season is over. After he's had surgery all we need to know is whether it was a success or not, and what the time table is from there.
But we're not at that point yet, so let's all just relax.

I am confused by all of this...
What do you want the Bucks to say? They told you what the injuries were! What else is there?
They can't tell you anything more until after the surgeries. I am baffled by some of you. What do you want them to say? And why? What difference does it make?
Bogut won't be available for the playoffs...so why do you care? You won't know about next year until after the timetable is set after the surgeries...so what is your problem with the Bucks?
Just relax my friends....what do you want them to say? They have to focus on the guys that are here.
Of course it will effect playoff tickets to a certain extent as it should...but they are not playing any games.
As for me, I am done after his injury. I am focusing on Brewers. But I would still watch to see what Brandon can do. But it is unfortunate.

I want to know if he is having surgery on his elbow.
Has he torn any ligaments or was the dislocated elbow a minor injury?
Thats the only thing I'm concerned about right now because if he tore ligaments, next season is certainly in question for him. If he did not, then we dodged a bullet.

I'm sure we'd all like to know more, but there is a small chance that they don't know much yet either, the reporters that is. Sadly, as fans, they aren't entitled to tell us s***.

You guys are both missing the point.
The point isn't that we should know everything on Bogut right now. The point is what we should know a few days from now.
Past precedent is troubling.
Do any of you guys know the details of Redd's surgery from last month? Timetable for return? (or any of Redd's injuries for that matter?)
Did anyone know what the hell was going on with Bobby Simmons? One night he's telling Woelfel in the locker-room that he feels great and will be playing in two weeks. Bigzy posts on here the same night that the guy is done for the year. No one comes clean with his problem. Bone spurs? Plantar faacitis, torn achilles? Just that his foot is "sore" and the surgery "went well".
TJ Ford? We got strung out on that one for months. Sore neck? Stinger?
If this stuff is left up to the team and Charles Gardner, based on past precedent all we'll see this week is a one-liner like "Bogut had successful surgery, doctors said it went well. Will miss remainder of the season".

Yeah I understand that, but it is a response nonetheless. I dont think he could really say anything more than he will be undergoing surgery today....

So if Bogut tore some ligaments and had a pin put in his wrist which might impact his career, you really don't want to know that information? That would be of zero use to you as a fan who likes to talk about the team and future moves on this board?

And BTW, while we are on the topic of journalism, Woelfel was made known of the threat you made towards him in another thread
