Now with snazzy graphics!

Serena pulled out with a foot injury. That sucks.
Del Potro is
STILL hurt, and won't defend his title. This
really sucks. I'm starting to worry about his recovery. A wrist injury in tennis is obviously a very big deal. I was really excited about him as a player and being a factor in the future, but he hasn't been able to continue to prove himself because of the injury. I hope he can make it back. I suppose he's now aiming for the AO in 2011.
Also, Fishy has been playing some great tennis the past few weeks. Has anyone else been watching the USO warmup events? He's in the finals at Cincy right now against Federer.

Been flipping back and forth to Cincy, nice to see Fish doing well.
Clijsters is injured, too, but should play. Would have really blown to have both defending champs out. But Serena being out zaps a lot of interest out of the women's side even though it makes it more up for grabs.

Federer wins in Cincinnati. it will be funny if Federer wins the US Open (I wouldn't be surprised). It would still give him two majors for the year, and I think many would have to reevaluate their thoughts that he is done. Sure he hasn't done well in smaller tournaments, but he has an Australian open, QTRs in the French and Wimbledom, a finals in Toronto amongst 2-3 other tournaments losing to Nadal, Hewitt, and Murray in the finals. He has reclaimed the 2 spot after losing it to Djokovic. Its not his usual dominating pace of 3 majors a year, but it is still very good results.
I still think he is playing pretty well. A lot of the people claiming he is done aren't actually watching him play is my guess.

He's "done" being the most dominant player in the history of the game. Done is a very relative term when discussing Federer. The guy set such a high standard for himself that when he only wins 2 slams in a year, he sucks.

Not too shabby.

I think a lot of people are writing him off for no more majors, which is ridiculous. I could easily see him getting 3 more, and who knows, if Nadal doesn't stay healthy, Federer is right there to take number one back. I don't think Murray or Djokovic have the mental game to reach that level yet.

I'm not convinced Djokovic will ever have the mental game. Granted, I've also never been accused of being a Djokovic fan...
Federer being "done" to me is just "done" with the reign of the most dominant period in the sport's history. He's not gonna win 3 majors in a season anymore. The competition has gotten better (like Nadal's improvement on hard courts over the years), there's more top-level talent than when his reign started IMO (like the emergence of Del Potro, among others), and you combine that with Federer getting older.
He's still going to be in the mix for any tournament that he plays in, you just won't write him in as the winner before it starts anymore. Granted, IMO it's been that way for awhile. Nothing has really changed in my mind. It's been a few years (probably since 2008) that I thought to myself 'well of course Federer will win this tournament.' Even last year when Nadal missed Wimbledon, my thought was instead 'hey, maybe this is Andy's year.'

I know MiG will be making a fancy ass graphic, but here's your top ten on the Men's side:
1. Nadal
2. Federer
3. Djokovic
4. Murray
5. Soderling
6. Davydenko
7. Berdych
8. Verdasco
9. Roddick
10. Ferrer
Other notables: 11. Cilic; 18. Isner; 19. Fish; 20. Querrey; 32. Hewitt
Women's out tomorrow, Wozniacki is probably your top seed

American Melanie Oudin has been upset by lucky loser Dominka Cibulkova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the first round of the Pilot Pen.
Cibulkova was a late replacement in the draw, after Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova withdrew Sunday with a hip injury.
Ouch.
Also, Wozniacki won in Montreal over Zvonareva. And yes, I would expect her to be the top seed.

Draws are out. WHERE IS THE GRAPHIC, MIG?!?!?!
The Federer quarter is pretty loaded with Hewitt, Melzer and Soldering. Nadal pretty much has to make it through his country to make it to the semis.
Wozniacki has a rough go in the top half as well with Sharapova and Kuznetsova all in there with Jankovic, Zvonareva and Petrova in that half. The bottom quarter looks pretty fun with Clijsters and Stosur.

I'm so ready for some tennis. It's so much more fun now that Federer isn't a lock to win and they aren't playing on Nadal's best surface.

Yea, WEF's favorite tournament.
Favorites? Dark horses? Predictions?
I'll go...
Federer as the favorite, Fish as the dark horse, and Roddick as my prediction for the men.
Clijsters as the favorite, Sharapova as the dark horse, and Sharapova as my prediction for the women.
It was a tough choice between Roddick and Murray as my champ. I think one of the two will come away with it. I'm hoping that it's Nadal, though. Would love to see him pick up the career slam at the age of 24. Fish has proven recently why he's a viable dark horse candidate. For the women, it's weird to have Sharapova as a dark horse, but I think that's exactly what she is. And I think (maybe it's hope) that she's ready to break back through. This would be as good of a place as any. Though she's a well-rounded player, I'd say hard courts are her best surface. I'd love to see a Cincinnati rematch between her and Clijsters, as I think that the tables could be turned.

Not sure that it will be Nadal, but in general Fish or Murray? Possibly.

I'll be there on Thursday night. Saw Sharapova and Roddick when I went last year. Hoping to see some good players again this year.

It's hard not to like what Fish has been doing recently, same goes with Murray. But I am pulling for the American men in this one moreso than any other year since I feel a decent amount of them have a pretty good shot of making it to the second week. But if Roddick is healthy, I like him in this one, he defeats Murray.
On the women's side, Wozniacki has been playing great but might have the worst draw in the tournament. Hard to think that the top seed might be the wild card in all of this, but that's how I see it. But you've gotta like Clijsters, though. And much like you MiG, I would love to see Sharapova make a nice run here.
Over/under on duration of Safina is third round.
