Figured this might be a good thread to have with the Big East tournament starting up tomorrow and Big Ten starting Thursday.
Marquette plays Providence at 8 on ESPNU tomorrow. They definitely need to get a win if they want to avoid going into Sunday on the bubble.
Big East Bracket:
http://www.bigeast.org/Portals/5/fls/19 ... racket.pdfWisconsin plays winner of PSU/IU at around 8 on Big Ten Network Friday. Wisconsin is obviously in and is playing for seeding.
Big Ten Bracket:
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/big ... racket.pdfUWM plays Butler in the Horizon League Championship tomorrow as well. I believe UWM swept Butler in the regular season. Would be pretty cool to get 3 Wisconsin teams in the tournament, hasn't happened for a while. The game is on ESPN at 8 tomorrow.
Lundardi's latest bracketology:
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketologyAnd as a Gonzaga fan, I'd also like to celebrate Gonzaga beating St. Mary's tonight!

Butler @ UWM Tuesday night for the conference automatic bid. UWM has beat them twice this year.
Edit: Didn't have it in there the first time

Yeah I totally forgot about the UWM game, then added it in after browsing tomorrow's games on ESPN networks. Would love to see them beat last year's national championship runner up 3 times in one season and get into the big dance.

Last time I checked, Wisconsin was set to play Oakland in Lunardi's bracketology. Once again, they may face the best/hottest lower seeded team. Not saying they are Davidson, but they had some close calls/wins in their 7 or 8 scheduled marquee games early in the year and then terrorized their conference as Davidson did exactly in that year. Yeesh.
The only issue is they didn't look AS good against the top teams as Davidson did. But they beat a few and played well against others.
That said, there are some double-digit losses but those were early and with nothing to lose and a really high 3P%, they are another bad matchup.
Not trying to be a UW/Ryan apologist, but as much as everyone says he caught breaks the few times he got his team past the 2nd round of the tournament with double-digit seeds...he also has gotten some awful draws of extremely good/underseeded mid-majors that were also bad matchups as run-and-gun teams.

Don't worry, he's just trying to mass as many bad/chokeworthy tournament teams so that maybe one of them will get to the Final 4 in the next decade. (OK, OK, he did attend all of those schools at one point).
**Noted from a fan who is also a fan of a chokeworthy tournament team**

With the introduction of espn2 and the bucks sucking so much I've been watching a stack of college ball lately. Still not around the system and how it works but love the tournament great atmosphere.
Was watching the Hansbrough game the other day when he fouled out and espn was pumping him up that much. Is he going in the draft this year and if so what's his range?

I'm usually the first to point out Wisconsin's trouble with mid majors in the tournament (Davidson, UNLV, Cornell, Xavier the last 4 years), but I have a feeling they are going to go deep this year. Taylor has been playing as well as any PG in the nation. Leuer is a stud and Nanikivil is that deadly 3 pt shooter that every team needs in the tournament. I'd be surprised if they don't make the sweet 16.

I don't like how much they rely on the three. Out of the 345ish NCAA Division 1 teams, they are 29th in terms of percentage of possessions used that end in 3 point FGA. Their home and road/neutral site disparity shooting is pretty big as well.
I won't be surprised if they make the sweet 16, but I won't be surprised if we have a game early where we are building a small community with our bricks and are sent packing.
Also, this is one of Ryan's worst defending teams. 70th in defensive efficiency nationally.

Since when? The Final 4, etc. normally starts in April.
Conference tourneys in early March, tournament begins in mid March. This is what I can remember from the past 5 years or so that are fresh in memory.

Maybe you are right, I tried looking at some dates. For some reason I thought the tournament used to start around March 8 or so taking 3 weeks, and the championship games were in the first week of March. Didn't realize the Championship game is still scheduled for the 4th.

Yes UWM plays tonight at 8. I can't believe Lunardi has Marquette as a 10 seed right now. 18-13 record and they're that high?

Sweet.
Also, I'll be in attendance tonight in the students section with 6 other Squad 6 members. UWM's road record when I've watched this season is 2-0 and home record when I've attended is 4-1, so 6-1 total. That's a pretty good record
