Location: Bradley Center
Gametime: 7:30pm CST
TV: Fox Sports Wisconsin
No updates yet on whether Delfino or Moute play tonight.
Wizards are 0-2 and dreadful.
As bad as it has been under Herb Kohl, the Wizards are actually a worse performing franchise over the past 30-years. I believe they have won over 45 games only once in that time span.
They won 54 games and made the Finals in 1978-79. Since they time, their second best record was 45-37 in the 2004-05 season. They have finished under .500 in 22 of the last 32 seasons. They are pretty analogous to the Bucks under Kohl except they have done it for a decade longer. There is a pattern of 20-30 win seasons and then a couple 43-39 years, then they go back down into the toilet bowl again.
Ernie Grunfeld took the reigns as GM on June 30, 2003. And I'd argue that even accounting for John Wall, our core is actually better than theirs. Thus Kohl > Grunfeld.
Jackson has averaged 20.6 points in his last 11 games - nine wins - versus the Wizards, who he'll meet for the first time in a Bucks uniform.
Washington, meanwhile, will want to make sure Nick Young gets his fair share of shots. One of the team's few bright spots after averaging 18.5 points in the first two games off the bench, Young averaged 19.0 in three games against Milwaukee last season.
The Bucks, however, won two of those and have taken eight of 11 from the Wizards overall.

As sad as it is, I would rather have the Wizard's situation than our situation.
John Wall + Pretty much a sure thing for another top 5 pick... most likely top 3.

They have John Wall, we don't. That's why I'd take their core over ours.

Wall has been pretty bad as a pro so far, but I'd still bank on him and that core over ours if I had to pick for future terms. That said, I don't see it as a quick rebuild unless Wall really takes a big jump in his game. His career TS so far is .492, and while he's a very good passer, turns the ball over a ton as well (18.6% of possessions so far, near tops in the league). Honestly, if Wall was on the Bucks, based on his play so far, I could see people ripping him to shreds so far, based on his production. At least if they are doing the same thing they have done with BJ.
All that said, we're a far better team now and I'd be disappointed if we didn't win this one.

John Wall is guaranteed to leave the Wizards. So they got that going for em.
And Nick Young is nice, but he's basically a young Jamal Crawford. Which isn't a high compliment.
Blatche is dumber than Villanueva and Maggette and Gooden all rolled up into one player. He will be traded this year.
Beyond that I can't name half of their roster.
I would definitely take our situation over theres. They don't have an asset like Bogut. They don't have an elite defender like Moute. Wall really isn't that much better than Jennings right now.
Bucks win this one going away. Blatche gets ejected in the 3rd quarter after Stephen Jackson gets under his skin. Wall and Jennings have a nice matchup, but Wall spills 5 TO's tonight and Jennings leads the way with 8 assists/2 to's.
Dunleavy breaks his slump and goes 7-9 for 18 points
Leuer Alcindor chips in 12 points to go with 6 rebounds tonight.
Bogut puts up 20pts/11rebs

That's why I'm not jumping up and down that the Wizards are in a better place than us asset wise.
This isn't Chris Paul. His career could go that route. Or it could go Stevie Francis.

Going to the game tonight...curious to see if Luc or Delfino play, and how Skiles manages the rotations

I think once you give him some teammates, Wall is going to be a serious impact player. Maybe not on the Derrick Rose level, but something close to that.

And for the record, I still like Wall as a player and think he can become a star, but he's been far more hype that production up to this point. If he was producing the way he has on the Wizards here in Milwaukee, people would be shredding him (assuming they are similarly "objective" about Jennings vs. Wall). Wall, to be 100% honest, has barely been better than Jennings so far, career wise.
Jennings (per 36): 17.1/3.8/5.8/1.5
TS: .484
AST%: 27.9
TO%: 12.6
USG: 25.8
Wall (per 36): 15.6/4.4/7.8/1.7
TS: .492
AST%: 35.7
TO%: 18.6
USG: 24.0

Ok, but I'm guessing we can also use that excuse for Jennings then? I mean, he's surrounded by some of the worst offensive talent in the league. If you use it for one, you have to be objective about using it for others.

I like Wall a lot more than Jennings because he is physically superior to him in just about every way.
That's just me though.

I think Jennings' assist totals would go up and his FG attempts would go down (probably leading him to being more efficient), yeah. But he just doesn't have the physical dominance over a majority of other players at the PG position that Wall could have.

But I'm not giving the Wizards credit in the asset column for their future lottery pick next June or future lotto picks in 2013, 2014, etc. I'm looking at assets right now. We could also blow it up and tank if we wanted to.
Where I'm coming from is if you made one of us GM of the Bucks as of today, I think we could produce a better core of players two years from now, working with what the Bucks have versus what the Wizards have.
I believe we could trade/parlay Bogut, Jennings, Moute, Jackson and Delfino into a damn attractive combination of young players (think a Harden type) or future draft picks.
I just don't see much to work with on Washington in comparison.

They are "on" the OKC model. The owner has said exactly everything alot of people on here would kill to hear the Bucks say. This is Ted Leonsis.
I want an efficient rebuild and as noted here, there is a price to pay in a rebuild but the outcomes are worth it. I see the rebuild taking three full seasons. I know that is a lot to ask but we have to be honest with everyone. We will load up on young players. We will await the new rules (if any) in the NBA. We will add free agents. We will make trades. We will play the youngsters to gain experience and then I think we will have a very good team for a long, long time. That is the plan.
The Oklahoma City model looks a lot like the Washington Capitals model to me.
So everything should be just fine soon for them. Three years in fact.
Sustain effort against the Wiz and we're fine, they have alot of head cases. Blatche and Young are the type of guys that look good in the stat sheet (well Blatche hasn't so far this year) but do next to nothing for you overall.
Singleton is lock down if you haven't seen him, though. Very impressed with him so far, although we already have that guy (Moute).

Fine, but at some point he has to produce. I don't like excuses being made for a player, but then not assessed to a player on our team. It's BS.

A loss to the wizards would be extremely disappointing. They flat out stink and I still don't understand why Grunfield and Saunders both have jobs. Mcgee and and Blatche are idiots and to me the only thing Wall has over Jennings is his size. Jennings can shoot better so what does that say about Wall? In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Irving turns out to a better pg than both of them.

Could be worse, they could have Evan Turner (although he's looked better) instead...

We shouldn't just win, we should blow them out TBH. Only way they can hang is if someone like Blatche goes for 25+.

What? I did apply it to Jennings, I said he would improve with better teammates as well.
