I really like this Kentucky team. They're not as good as last year's squad and probably not a real threat to win it all, but I'm enjoying watching the learning curve for them. I think Noel and Goodwin are both special players.

Refs ruin basketball. Changes college basketball should make:

1. Extend the 3pt line
2. Reduce the shot clock to :30 seconds
3. Require a 2 year commitment from all players
4. Assess all fouls as team fouls
5. Widen the court

Goodwin is balling right now, he's been really impressive.

Pretty excited for Minnesota v. Michigan State in a couple of hours. Will have to watch from work though.

I don't really understand 4 and 5, why would they want to widen the court?

I love the short 3 point line in college, it increases scoring and gives underdogs a better chance at winning.

I can agree with #3, but I'd rather see this: All scholarships are 2 years. So even if a player is one-and-done, the coach has a 2 year void to fill with a walkon.

I'd like them to go a step further, and also a step back. Let kids go straight to the pros if they want to, but if they go to college they have to stay for three years. And if a kid declares for the draft but ends up being a second round pick (i.e. no guarantee), let him have his NCAA eligibility back if he wants to commit to three years at school.

That's my pipe dream. I know it's not happening.

Straight to pros is really bad for the NBA. I can understand the D players and some of the superstars, but overall it was bad for the NBA. On the other hand, 1 year has been great for college basketball, better for the NBA and I think 2 years is perfect for both. I think a 3 year commitment is too long for a basketball player. It forces kids into making an unfair, tough decision and will send some kids chasing money before they are ready. 2 years is ideal for both the NBA and college.

Last year we saw some of the 2 year kids in the lockout with Barnes, Jones III, etc. I liked that and wouldn't think it necessary to keep Barnes or Jones III a third year.

#9 Gophers solidified their top 10 status, beating Michigan State by double digits. Easily their best team since I became a fan as a freshman in 2004.

Marquette up on UConn early. Considering this is a home game, they pretty much have to have this one if they want to make the NCAA Tourney this year. They don't have a signature non-conf win so they will have to finish towards the top of the Big East.

Cadougan with a huge 3 pointer to send it in to OT!

In other news, I really do love Kevin Ollie and hope he sees lots of success as a head coach. I think he could be a lifer at UCONN if he does well.

Solid win for Marquette. UConn has to be pretty devastated with that loss, no way Cadougan should have hit that 3 to push it to OT.

Cadougan can handle the mic quite nicely...which he demonstrates fantastically here
