Re: BREAKING: Bucks/Skiles part ways
I'll toss another theory on the fire. If you guys recall, when Kohl was intently trying to sell the team to Jordan in the summer of 2003, he hung onto Karl. Once those talks broke down for good and Kohl knew he'd be keeping the team longer, he then promptly fired George Karl in the middle of summer league.
Plausible theory that Kohl has been negotiating with Heisley to sell the team the past 60-days and that once that broke down, he decided he needed to at least take charge in the front office. I do know that Hammond and Skiles have had an ongoing power feud for the past year. Skiles wanted Hammond out. Looks like Kohl sided with Hammond here and/or Skiles just couldn't take it and was willing to accept less than the full balance owed on his contract.
So many good angles for a good reporter here to cover.

Boylan is an excellent choice (for the remainder of the season) and I welcome heavy minutes from Gooden.
I expect some blow it up trades coming (Ersan, Ellis, Jr.) and hopefully an additional 1st is added to the cupboard.
Bucks should sink deeper into the lottery (target is 6/7) and finally has a shot a big time player.
I expect this team to be sold and that's part of all this. The NBA likely has a number of potential buyers lined up once the arena stuff is worked out and if so, we have the potential at the Stern lotto bounce.
Summer of 2013.. Bucks could have all the tools they need to become a young, fast, fun team to watch again.
VERY VERY exciting times for Bucks fan.
I take all this back if the Bucks make a 'win-now' trade.
January 15th Ersan becomes eligible for trade..
And I agree that a Win Now trade would be a depressing reaffirmation of the stupid status quo.
Nice to see you have joined us on the dark side known as tanking.
It is an interesting day when the fans are happy the coach is gone so we can lose more.

I mean, why now? It isn't like the Bucks were expected to be anything more than .500ish on the season, and .500ish is what they are. I don't think anyone is really underperforming relative to what was expected. Hell, Sanders is doing better than most thought.
So if Skiles goes now, there has to be a reason. Aldridge's report may have been the key, but outside of the die-hards, did anyone notice?
So what could Skiles have been doing that didn't jive with what Hammond wanted to see?
I'm hoping it's the January 15th Ersan deadline. Blow up starts next week.. hopefully.
What do you think is more likely: we deal Ersan after the coach who was dicking with his minutes gets fired? or he gets more minutes now that the fired coach got canned.

I have a feeling that some of the players have approached Hammond about playing time, lack of consistent rotations, and overall unhappiness with Skiles. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Hammond approached Skiles about these reservations, and I could see Skiles telling Hammond to **** off and let me coach my team and then basically come to the realization that their relationship isn't going to work anymore on a personal or professional level.
Thus, they can "part ways" and Skiles and call it a difference of opinion, or whatever they called it.
I agree.

Maybe Skiles has a job lined up already? Say he approached Kohl and said he wanted to leave and wants out of his contract. Kohl agrees because the writing has been on the wall since the end of last season.

May mean next to nothing but unless I missed some, so far the only player I've seen go on Twitter and thank or say anything positive about Skiles has been Jennings.
Nothing will not break me.

Udoh tweeted "Unbelievable". Otherwise I haven't seen much either. But I may not be following many of them and haven't been checking a whole ton.

Not sure we can conclude that was about Skiles. He may have made a shot in practice today and was fired up about it.

But once tomorrow comes it will be back to Packers-Niners coverage and all will be forgotten.

Re: BREAKING: Bucks/Skiles part ways
any coach that isnt a prick is a good upgrade.
i expect the team to play loose... to take more personal responsibility.... to play with less of the pretend passion that skiles was notorious for generating..... play to win instead of play for a little more extended playing time.
this may or may not generate more wins in the shortterm..... but longterm its huge. longterm maybe a vet shows up and will actually want to play here. maybe the young guys improve at the rate other teams are allowed to see.
this can only be a good thing.... its not a gaurantee.... its still a very unbalanced roster and that needs to be remedied. i will be fine if its now..... and i will be fine if the course is the same until the summer when its dealt with if the players INDIVIDUALLY show some improvement.
this was the logical first step to improvement and it has been for awhile.

I would doubt he could pick up a job until next season, but I do fully expect him to be coaching next year. He's built a pretty good rep of being successful in the short term, but he is almost in that "retread" stage too, so maybe teams won't be jumping at him.

Minutes go up.. value goes up. So both.
Liked many have previously stated, we really should know the true intentions by the deadline. And with January 15th next week, possibly sooner considering Ersan/Ellis to the Lakers still makes sense and they need to do something asap.

Re: BREAKING: Bucks/Skiles part ways
Like most here I am thrilled with this, and confused at the timing. There have been rumblings or at least speculation here that Hammond has always wanted to go younger and maybe even tank but with Kohl and Skiles it would never happen. It's probably a long shot, but if Hammond won Kohl over on that then I'd be thrilled.
You'd assume a new coach means more time for the young guys and that's the main thing I want to see happen. BUT, if Boyland is auditioning for a job how can we expect anything different? I wish we'd just hire Sampson or some other young, hungry coach. I don't care about reputation, a coach isn't going to bring FA here anyways until more changes. I just want a guy that has some bball sense and will play our youth. There's at least hope, for now. I just have an eerie feeling that nothing will change as Boyland tries to ram us into that 8th seed and new contract.

Has there been a press conference scheduled by the Bucks to announce this yet?
