Trade Targets (postcript on yesterday-other teams)
I'm just curious as to who some guys that you'd like to see us go after are.
Personally, I'm trying to think of young big men that can pass that we could use in this weird high-post offense Kidd seems to love. The only guy that came to mind right away was Mitch McGary, but I'm sure there's a few that are slipping my mind now.

I would love for us to trade Knight and Ersan for two of my favorite players:

Re: Trade Targets
I'd essentially target 2nd year 1st round picks that can't get more than 15 minutes per game.

It's too bad there'd be no prototypical big guards on that list. Goodwin I guess would fit.
It would start with Zeller and McCollum, though, no? EDIT: Zeller plays more than that.

Oh, the Zellers could both probably fit as big men that can pass a bit like McGary if I remember them the right way.

Sucks that Lamb is gonna prove some serious worth now and won't be a buy-low candidate anymore

I think the time to buy low on McLemore, if there was one, may have passed.

Re: Trade Targets
I wanted to start a related thread about draft pick trade equivalents for all our vet role players, but I figured it would just devolve into over-exaggerating about how useless guys like Ersan and Zaza are in general to every team around the league. Even though Caron Butler started for Oklahoma City in the playoffs last year. I think some people here just like to lament and project about how useless role players are to us because they block young players they want to see more now and threaten the tank but don't win us enough games now. But that doesn't mean they won't for a contender who just need the little nudge they might provide. They are desperate for help come trade deadline when they are looking for that missing piece that might get them just a little bit closer. And I think that's what the front office is thinking with their acquisition strategy and minute allocation up until this point (what Kohl and other coaches besides Kidd did is irrelevant). I think Knight, Henson, Mayo, Ersan, Zaza, Dudley, and Bayless all have at least marginal value to win now teams, which we aren't really. So they should all be dealt. And in totality for them I'd expect something like 2 sub lotto 1st rd picks, Schroeder, Motiejunas, another even lower-level prospect, and a 2nd round pick.

Re: Trade Targets
Austin Rivers might be an interesting guy to buy low on, young and has some connections to the city and team thru his father and Duke. Could use change of scenery and probably not to many places better than here for him. He's expiring tho so trade is probably unnecessary.

Re: Trade Targets
How has Schroder done so far this season?
It seems like there are precious few PG's worth us targeting but of course that depends on their availability.
The Hawks' front office and ownership structure is probably even more of a mess than usual. But who knows...maybe that would work to our advantage of they want a playoff push to help distract from the drama.

Now you're speaking my language. They didn't pick up his option even though he's seemingly improved every year (albeit after a horrid start), and are playing him out of position. So he should be had rather easily. I just don't know if he's a ufa now after this season considering they didn't pick up his option, or he's still a rfa. If he's the former, there wouldn't be much point. But if the latter, let's do it.

Yes, but the time to buy low on Nik Stauskas is just beginning!

Re: Trade Targets
Yeah, McLemore seems to be getting consistent minutes now, and really looks like he could be a stud defensively. That ship may have sailed.
Still don't understand the fascination with Jeremy Lamb. Takes a lot of shots and puts up empty box score numbers, average defense, limited upside, meh.
I'll throw out Terrence Ross as a somewhat viable candidate. Only because I think that with Toronto paying Lowry, Vasquez, and DeRozan, that 2-guard spot is pretty crowded and that may make Ross expendable. You'd obviously have to give up assets for him, but I think some combination of Middleton and/or Henson could be enticing.

I'm pretty sure he's an UFA so he would probably make more sense as an offseason signing. If we don't extend Knight and Marshall is gone, he could be a decent cheap signing with some upside.
