My top five was predictable until it wasn't.

1 - Sleep Token (100%, obvious)
2 - Bad Omens (ditto)
3 - Miranda Lambert (not this year)
4 - Atmosphere (I think I had a two day stretch where I binged their oldest stuff)
5 - PVRIS (I don't remember liking her current stuff)

I'll be interested in seeing what my Youtube list looks like. I generally listen to that at work. My guess is my top five are Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Deftones, Alice in Chains, and The Menzingers.

This is a real nice song, though.

My top 5 is pretty similar every year since i listen to my liked songs playlist 90% of the time. Jeff Beck cracked the top 5 because I binged his stuff when he died. I do think it’s amusing that my sound town is Bozeman, Montana though lol. I guess I need to take a trip out there sometime to meet my people lol.

The National (new album, and always)
Hozier (new album, and pretty frequent)
Alvvays (new album, and pretty frequent)
Local Natives (new album, and always)
Bombay Bicycle Club (basically just one song on repeat)

Actually not sure if I've shared this - SIAP. I didn't know who Holly Humberstone was before this. I guess she's popular in the UK.

Shane just died, and he's my favorite of all time. This one is pretty cheesy, but still my favorite.

Decade late but found out about The Struts last week. Like their style a lot.

An early one.

A new one.

Can anyone explain Noah Kahan’s popularity to me?

Can't say I've heard of him.

Speaking of artists I've never heard of, I see Pitchfork has more or less been shuttered. I hate seeing just about any outlet going under, but I gotta say, I haven't ever seen a single piece of Pitchfork content RT'd onto the timeline. Like, not once in 16 years.

He’s popular because Stick Season blew up on TikTok. I’m with you, he’s generic/boring but the kids love the relatable lyrics. His Covid lyric is one of the cringiest things I heard last year.

Do Taylor Swift's while you're at it. The easy answer to both is "well you're not a 16 year old girl so its simply not for you." Except my wife has a friend who's husband is a self proclaimed "Swiftie," bought concert tickets, airfare, and a hotel to go see her without their kids. Another one of my wife's friend's husbands saw Noah Kahan, at Summerfest I believe, and said it was the greatest concert he's been to. Music is, apparently, subjective.

I liked Swift up through 1989 quite a bit. Haven't listened to her last three or four albums, though.

Tikity Tokity.

Unfortunately, it's bled into mainstream adult alternative radio for some reason. He's been all over The Spectrum (SXM) and I hate it.

I’m going to Extra Innings Fest during spring training and that cat is co-headlining a night with Dave Matthews Band the evening after Chris Stapleton.

Give him a listen, and I’m like “what in the actual ****?”

Like did Gregory Alan Isakov coheadline with Phish the night after Foo Fighters in the 2010? I don’t get it.

Thanks a lot Xi.

TBH that's how I felt after hearing Ant's Marching against my will on the bus to a football game in 1994 and I made it a point to never willingly listen to DMB ever again. Been successful too. Haven't heard a song of theirs in 30 years.

Christ Stapleton is cool, though.
