Who should be the next General Manager of the Bucks? (with poll)

Post#1 » by hege53190 » Thu May 25, 2017 2:38 am

Updated to take into account people being interviewed

Previous Poll had Hinkie as the comfortable favorite with 47 votes. The next closest was Zanik with 32.

Need an "other" option. My vote is for RC Buford.

I was hoping to do guys that are 100% available. I don't think Buford or Griffin would actually leave but I guess I will put the option up there anyway.

I would hire Hinkie as POBO and let him choose his coach and GM.

Every time I add an option it resets the poll I will stop unless I am missing somebody significant. However I don't think I am adding anyone like Jason Kidd again.

What about Troy Weaver from.Okc? Seems more realistic than the guy who is about to go to Atlanta

The thing about Hinkie is the NBA booted him off the 76ers and replaced him with their own guy. I feel like hes blackballed right now, probably temporarily. The NBA will never let a team go "full Hinkie" again. If Hinkie gets another chance to be GM, that team will get a neutered version of Hinkie. That being said, I would still take him in a heartbeat.

I vote for David Griffin using the other option.

I love Hinkie but at the end of the day his skill was doing dumps for draft picks. Good skill but not what this team needs necessarily right now. Giannis is going to make this team too good to tank.

We need a guy who can master deals and contracts at the moment IMO. Strategic thinker.

Went with Justin Zanik. Not hiring him, considering that he is the GM in waiting, makes us look like morons

He wouldn't be neutered at all. He'd just simply skip the phase people disliked by already having his superstar in hand.

Now if we're all remembering correctly, Griffin was actually in the running here with Hammond at the time in Spring 2008. I just don't think he's going to be the guy to do wonders for us. I guess I give quite a bit of credit to James and his influence. I think GIannis has a bit farther to go obviously to get to that level of attracting other players.

Nice genuine guy though it appears, great interview with DX way back when on their old youtube channel.

It's POBO a recently created trend? I just don't see what the difference is between that role and the role of a GM in the past that oversaw the scouts and hired the coach. What's the difference in hierarchy now? Does the GM just focus on roster management?

On the other end of the spectrum what has Griffin really done besides trade all his draft picks for help? I mean who has Girffin acquired? Love, Mozgov, Smith, Shumpert, Korver. All acquired trading picks, presumably simply better pick packages than anyone else was willing to offer. When your owner lets you spend any money you want and give up all your picks its usually pretty easy to put talent around a LeBron. Outside of trading youth for proven what has he done? Sign Delly and Larry Sanders?

You want to talk about Hinkie having the easiest job, how is what Griffin did any harder?

Hinkie certainly mastered deals and judging opportunity cost IMO. Two things that are key in adding the rest of the roster around a guy like Giannis in a market like Milwaukee.

Is Larry Harris still available?

But really I voted Hinkie.
