Re: #17 - Bucks take D.J. Wilson
I'm optimistic. The guy can do a little bit of everything to some extend: shoot, dribble, pass, jump, slide his feet, box out, roll, pop etc.
There are a couple of things he can improve greatly and relatively quickly with work: toughness on the boards and core strength. Whether he puts in that work or not is entirely up to him, his drive and mental attitude. I hope the Bucks did their job with the character checks but they've been pretty good with that lately so I'm optimistic.
I'd rather wait on a young guy who is a little soft to get strong and tough than wait on someone with stone hands to develop touch and handles for example.

There were some posters here that ranked DJ Wilson high predraft ...
In a mock draft I made, I had Wilson at #37.

I hope DJ does a lot of good things for us in MKE.
But, we really screwed up not taking John Collins. He’s just a better basketball player all around... and we really need the boards badly. But I do hope DJ turns into a Robert Horry type... with better slashing ability.

Projecting DJ Wilson as an insta offense forward, oyyy. 4th leading scorer as a junior at Michigan where he operated as a system contributor. That is basically what he will be in the pros. He is not going to be some sparkplug of firepower off the bench, but a guy who hopefully does the little things to help the team win. Play good defense, hit an open shot, and make the right play.
Even this seems like a stretch to me.
I think he is going to be good in the open court. But that's not really enough to make sufficient impact.

So much of what these guys become is based on stuff that gets totally glossed over in the pre-draft process. Anyone who claims that they saw "best defensive player in the league" potential in a 22-year old Draymond Green averaging 8/7/1 per 36 his rookie year, is most likely a liar. Rudy Gobert is another example. He was pretty trash his rookie year. Nothing should seem like a stretch until you see a guy play more than one season in the pros.

Ron is right.. Summer League means next to nothing except you can gauge a guys effort level to an extent. No one plays D in SL and you’re playing against college level talent essentially with limited organization and comfort with each other.

His FT% is a strong indication that he can concentrate.
I think his looks tricks you, that he is immature, but on court he could turn out to be really efficient, like Cool Beas.

Our shade of green is ugly. Should've gotten it darker.

Can't be worse than Henson.

Have you seen those nerdy articles that try to find the most average player in the NBA?
I have a feeling this is what DJ Wilson will become

I'm actually pleased to hear this. I think he will usually be a whimp but I think having two guys that can play the 5 and hopefully hit the three would be good for Giannis.

This always seemed pretty obvious to me. While not a good rebounder, he has legit center size and has shown the ability to block shots. I doubt he gets many center minutes this year but, assuming Moose leaves in the offseason, I think our center rotation is Thon and D.J. in 2018.
