I'm going to guess 52 wins.

I think that would be just enough to get Giannis an MVP assuming he has slightly better stats then he did last year.
Even being an absolutely massive Giannis fanboy I've underestimated his improvement every year so far so I'll be bold and predict 28/10/7 on 60/30/80.

I'll guess 40-42 since Jason Kidd is still our coach and we will most likely still be running the "give up wide open corner 3's" defensive scheme that has been so highly successful in the past.

42 wins and the 5th or 6th seed. Just so used to things not going right for us. I'm also scared of how hard Kidd is going to work Giannis this year.

It would mean one or more of these things:

-Middleton is not as impactful as thought

-Thon is not a starting caliber center capable of 25mpg of good defensive play each night

-Kidd is not a good coach

-The contract money given to Delly, Telly, Monroe, Henson, Snell is truly dead money.[

My guess is we'll be chalking it up to your last point and Middleton won't be the problem. I think we already know he's not #2 on a title team, so barring some kind of drastic change in play from him I don't see how having a player with his skillset possibly harms your team or that we'd drastically change our views on him. We all know what he is, a solid starting player with a key skillset in today's NBA. Heck, I'd probably go in reverse order here as the causes for them not being better and add in not having a legit attack PG before getting to Middleton.

this is pretty much where im at also.
i dont see more than 45 wins,
and the Cavs, Celtics, Wizards, Raptors are still better than us.

i dont think Middletion is an issue at all.
if hes an efficient 17ppg player, i think thatd be terrific.

dont think Thon can be bumped up to 25mpg, in his 2nd season.
id be happy with 12mpg.
hes just too frantic and will get fouls called on him

kidd is not a good coach

idk is Monroe and Snells $ is dead.
Monroe has a lot to prove and show teams, so he can get more, new $.
Snell, needs to repeat his performance,
but now everyone knows what hes about,
so it will be difficult

46 and i think that gets us a 4/5 matchup with Boston. I think I like that series.

I'm going with 52 after looking at the schedule I think Giannis takes another huge step as a leader, facilitator and improved scorer

First post after some time. 8-) :guitar:

The projection seems about right. The East got worse, but we already won 6/8 against Indy and Chicago last season.

Are we better than WAS, TOR, CLE or BOS? This should be the question, not the projected wins.

The top 4 teams in the East last year
Boston - beat once out of 3
Clev - beat once out of 4 (Lebron played in all 4)
Wash - beat once out of 4
Toronto - beat once out of 4

The top 4 teams in the West last year
GS - lost twice (we beat every team once last year except GS, Dal, Den, and Utah)
SA - beat once on road out of 2
HOU - beat once out of 2
LAC - beat both times

That's 8/19 against the top 8 teams. If we can do that plus do really well against teams as good or worse we should have a great record.

I think the NBA thinks we're the third best team above the Wizards and Raptors. The first two Cavs games - against the Celtics and Bucks, first two Celtics games - against the Cavs and Bucks, first two Bucks games - against the Celtics and Cavs

45 wins for me.

Last year they went a combined 4-11 vs the 4 teams they'll be competing with for a top-4 seed (Tor, Was, Cle, Bos).

Anything less than 45 should prompt a head coach change and re-evaluation of our roster top to bottom.

A certain someone I know and respect quite a bit when it comes to analytic projections believes this team could potentially win up to 55 if we stand pat. To achieve that Giannis would need to meet his his annual improvement quota. Middleton would need to return to 3 years ago Middleton and start shooting more threes. Brogdon and Monroe would need to be the same to slightly better than last year. Also the rest of the players would have to scrape together neutrality. That is a lot of ifs and would require a healthy squad as well but with how weak the east is after some of the trades, it doesn't sound impossible to me.

However, we still have coach Kidd and not Spoelstra or Stevens on the bench so I will personally subtract 5-8 wins off that projection and go with 47-50 wins as my prediction.

It's why I'm not at all opposed to packaging him plus Jabari for someone like Irving or another big move/talent upgrade.
I have always said that Middleton is not a 2. 3 maybe.

If he can return to this Khris Middleton with better shot selection, he is definitely a 2.

Can he return to that though and actually improve his shot selection? Time will tell I guess.
