Eurobasket 2017

Post#1 » by Chuck Diesel » Sun Aug 20, 2017 8:09 am

Eurobasket starts in a couple weeks, giving us a much needed hoops fix that doesn't involve Stephen Jackson & Michael Rapaport. No Giannis but still plenty of intrigue. Kristaps playing for Latvia for the first time. The giant Boban suiting up for Serbia. Jiri FRICKING Welsh still lacing up his Czech low tops. Top three teams in my mind are Spain, Serbia & Croatia. Really hope we get a Croatia/Serbia Olympic rematch. Bojan Bogdanovic has a score to settle with a certain Nikola Kalinic.

Games will be on ESPN3.

The plucky Lithuanians can never be counted out. They seem to overachieve every summer & could be right in the mix to medal again this year. Excited to see what Luka Doncic can do teaming with Goran Dragic & the Slovenes (my favorite 60's band).

No Milos for Serbia, Eurobasket is going to be 50% more boring with him and Giannis out

Took a looks at the rosters, this has to be the **** Eurobasket ever. My dark horse team is Latvia this year, they can hit it from all over the floor and I hope that Porzingis will cover their defensive deficiencies

Also, since '11 that 24 teams participate in this instead of 16, the average level of spectacle sucks. Especially this year, there are maybe 10 teams that I wouldn't watch at all if possible.

Latvia-Serbia, Lithuania-Georgia & Finland-France were all great. Spain is still so much better than everyone.

Had some awesome moments in the first half of his first game today (shaking dudes off the dribble for jumpers, big dunk, huge block) but the Serbs were able to out physical him, get him in foul trouble and render him pretty much useless in the second half. Watching Kristaps battle Boban was a delight. Super chippy game.

I opted for Georgia Vs Germany
Georgia is tough and passionate plus everybody looks like a drug dealer, I think everybody is born with a 5 day growth and a broken nose in that country. Including women

Schroder looks like blur at both ends, like a John Wall lite. I wonder what it would take to strip him from Atlanta
Hartenstein is in too, massive put back dunk on Pachulia

The Greek coach of Georgia is abusing the refs in Greek, I can read his lips, he said "f*** off you d***head"
Tech.

Awesome game so far!
