RealGM NBA Re-Draft Round 6 - Now underway

Round 6 now rolling---first pick is:

With pick #151 I am selecting Allen "Cool Breeze" Crabbe. Not sure if his nickname refers to the cool breeze of the net as he's draining threes at a .444 clip on 3.8 attempts per game or the breeze created by whoever he's supposed to be guarding on the other end with his lackluster D (or both) but I feel like his scoring punch off the bench is too good to pass up at this spot.

El has been doing a great job always keeping track of the global list. I asked him to create a separate thread with the top 150 picks. Think it will spark a lot of discussion as compared to the other media lists we've seen come out lately.

That's not really a rank of the top 150 players, though. The challenge is that it is based on team-need as much as it is based on ability.

Between changing the number of rounds midway through the draft and these last 3 rounds being random... this first draft is a lot like Horst's first draft with all the kids running around

While it's not a straight top 150 based on how the draft was structured, I still think it's a good approximation of relative value in a vacuum.

100 is nothing more than a nice round number. Based on where your personal tiers breakdown the difference in talent or impact between say #85 & #115 may be minimal & based on nothing more than potential fit or personal preference. Yet one guy is "top 100" & the other isn't. By going out to 150 & making it a little more geared towards building a cohesive team I think we've captured a wider swath of players, though definitely not a definitive "top 150".

Either way, it's been fun & I look forward to finishing the process & getting feedback on the final results.

I don't even use a big board lol. I made my first two picks (29 and 32) by ticking off players from a top 38 list and made my choices also greatly based on bball style over player value or ability. Then I got Noel because I wanted a defensive disruptor at the 5 badly and it fit and then I just looked at wings and got two that I liked.

I really value Dragic' ability to kinda set the style of a team and give me a mold to build, much more so than perennial playoff underperformer Kyle Lowry or Brad Beal or (snif, wish I had him) Paul Millsap.

I think I kinda overestimated the board's love for darlings like good defensive centers and 3&D guys who can actually do both, since players who could play Noel's part were later available too, and all my 3&D options I looked at for round 4 (I got Dion) were also there 29 picks later. Or maybe I overestimated the stylistic chemistry over player quality and it'll bite my ass in forming a bench.

Also next offseason Pat Riley is gonna trade Justise Winslow to the Cavs for Love and s&t Noel for Kellynyk to form my team 8-)

I legitimately love my frontline of Johnson, Giannis, and Dedmon. Johnson and Giannis can both initiate offense, they're absurdly athletic, and all three will defend the **** outta you. Dedmon's my breakout center pick now that he's probably gonna see 30+ minutes a night.

I thought you had Giannis starting at C? I like Johnson more at the 4 too. Dedmon I'm not sure will even have the most center minutes on the team by the time the season is over.

I'll still play a good amount of CENTER GIANNIS but I've had my eyes on Dedmon for a few rounds, and yup, Johnson can definitely play the four in small ball lineups.

I love my Harden/Roberson/Jackson/Aldridge/Chandler roster. You get plenty of offense through Harden, Aldridge, and Jackson. Roberson and Chandler provide good perimeter and front court defense. Roberson/Jackson/Aldridge/Chandler will give teams a lot of length to combat on the defensive side of the ball.

I like my other team, too. Paul and Howard anchoring the defense. Fultz and Harris providing instant offense off the ball. Plumlee as a glue guy who is a great screener, excellent passer for a big man, has really good hops, and will hustle all over the floor.

I think that Paul team is one of the bottom 3 in this league. Harris/Plum/Howard front court is a mess... and Fultz will be a big net negative player this year. (To be fair I was super low on Fultz in the draft this year)

Your Harden team would be pretty good.

The front court is legit but your backcourt will struggle defensively. You have a mediocre defender in Smart and an awful defender in DeRozan who are going to give up points. Then your offense will be four guys watching DeRozan try to score on three defenders. I like your other team much better.
