Remind me, is this supposed to be based on expected performance in this coming season?

Yes. Contracts, age, etc. doesn't matter.. It is purely for the 2017-18 season.

This is a great list to compare value of players versus the other lists out there.

Certainly some guys here drafted for team need but in the end for each guy picked "too high" because a team here needed say a center there are ppgz guys that probably go too high in the other media lists.

Precisely because we were constructing teams, guys who contribute across the board were perhaps more properly valued.

I'd say pretty good overall. Kind of struggled to come up with too high too lows so that's a good sign.

For too low: Lebron James, cmon he's #1 and it's not close. Other boards would call us homers after seeing that. Robin Lopez seemed to go behind several other bigs that I'd prefer him to. Harden going #9 is a too low as well.

Too high: Giannis. Then maybe Simmons and Isaiah Thomas since it's this year only and injury questions, I think Rudy Gay is out for a while too but I could be wrong. Draymond, great glue high I'd want on my team but I can't take him over so many guys that can be lead guys on O.

I drafted Gay and I made sure he was healthy before I drafted him.

http://www.espn.com/blog/san-antonio-spurs/post/_/id/1734/title-tops-rudy-gays-san-antonio-bucket-list
Gay spent some time with ESPN.com to discuss his rehabilitation process from a torn left Achilles tendon, what he brings to the Spurs, and why he opted out of a $14.2 million contract in Sacramento for the 2016-17 to take $8.4 million in San Antonio:

Michael C. Wright: How’s the rehab process going?

Gay: It’s great. I actually worked out today. I’m fully cleared to do everything. I’m fine now.

Lebron- Should be #1 especially without Kyrie there and IT out probably couple months.
Rudy Gobert- James Harden should of been the pick in this spot

The steal of the draft was getting Dennis Smith Jr at 114. He will be somewhere around 19-21 ppg 6-8 apg 4-6 rpg 1-2 spg

Getting the potential rookie of the year that low is pretty amazing and very surprising. I mean Lonzo ball went 64 which i 50 picks difference.

You do realise that the lower end of the numbers you mention has only been reached twice in NBA history by a rookie, right?

Nurkic is going to be an absolute monster this year. I don't see how #53 is a reach for him at all.

Well Dallas has no one. Dennis is going to be the only person to get stats like Lebron was on Clev as a rookie. Not saying hes lebron but he can get those stats.

Kyrie Irving - 18.5 points 5.4 assists 3.7 rebs 1.1 spg
Lilard- 19 ppg 6.5 apg 3.1 rpg .9 spg

Both of those are right around where I estimated Dennis smith.

Giannis went too high. Nobody is taking him first overall if they are trying to win this season only. No way.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is about who's the better player etc to win games. Not just on who's going to get better stats like it would be for a fantasy team. As in Dennis Smith might put up better stats but maybe we'd prefer a less stats guy like idk Brogdon, Crowder, etc. Or that MCW as a rookie really wasn't a good player even though he put up traditional counting stats.

That said, I would agree Smith seems to be a good steal that late.

Fotis St wrote:Too high : 44 Danilo Gallinari

The reasoning for picking Gallinari in that spot was that of the players still left on the board he brought the best combination of volume, variety & efficiency in scoring to play off of Jokic. I also thought it was an added bonus that they had already demonstrated a solid chemistry in the past posting a +8.3 pts/100 in 1177 minutes together last season.

SI had Gallinari at 42 in their 2018 rankings & ESPN put him in the 54 spot so it seems 44 is in the right general neighborhood.

Of the players that were available at that spot who would you have taken as a better fit to pair with Jokic?

This is sort of like Brett Favre going first in most fantasy drafts circa 1993-2007. He was always a great pick but there was that added hometown buzz. It wasn't a bad pick at #1, just that most would have taken LeBron.

Felt these were great picks:

17 Nikola Jokic
30 Kyle Lowry
38 DeAndre Jordan
51 George Hill
80 Victor Oladipo
91 Greg Monroe
100 Danny Green
109 Aaron Gordon
110 Amir Johnson
114 Dennis Smith Jr.
125 Taj Gibson

And these were reaches:
47 Markelle Fultz
54 Clint Capela
61 Buddy Hield
69 D'Angelo Russell
77 Dwight Howard
86 Jonas Valanciunas
105 Seth Curry
119 Dwyane Wade
120 Skal Labissiere
122 Zach LaVine
131 Tony Allen
138 T.J. Warren
149 Kenneth Faried

Capela at 54 with Gobert as a 1st rounder is alarming. Felt that team did fairly well the rest of the way, though.
