Yeah but it doesnt harm he's on the floor with some dudes named Giannis, Eric and Khris having monstrous games

But, if we look at what he's actually doing he does seem a bit better, his timing has improved, he wins some 50-50 balls and he's generally more careful and coordinated. If we're lucky maybe your theory that he was nursing some injury and/or lifting before games might be true. Who knows... this is the curious case of Thon Maker.

He flashed a few positives today. That's 2 games in a row he showed a little bit of hope.

Agreed hes still a 2nd year player and I want to believe in the guy but his lack of control and coordination really worry me going forward, he had a block last night that he elevated a 3 inches, still waiting for that explosiveness he is supposed to have.

Thon is such an interesting test case because he's clearly got a motor. So many guys that fail don't have one.

That said, if he can't control the motor he's going to end up playing overseas somewhere in a few years.

The name "Dan Gadzuric" flashed into my head as I read your post. A player with athleticism that wasn't able to translate into success. It's difficult to understand what's missing. Clearly it's mental rather than physical. I wonder if Thon would be willing to spend the summer in a federal penitentiary or a tour in Afghanistan to help him find his dark place to unlock the beast within him. ...It's just an idea.
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

thon is the least efficient scorer of all qualified centers in the league. hes got it by a mile in fact.

thon has the worst rebounds per minute of all qualified centers in the league besides udoh.

I found that interesting.

my next research will be how low he rates historically. my research will focus on whether he has the worst production for a center in league history or just this season for the minutes hes getting.

Yeah, he has been bad. Major disappoint this season, he almost has to be injured with the way he has regressed.

Last 5 games he is 11th in NetRtg among centers just behind Henson for players with at least 19 minutes a game (Thon at 19.7)

Progress!

Thon's defense is coming around, he'll be passable if he finds his jumper. Liggins is the massive minus we need to move on from asap.

In typical Kidd fashion we are asking too much from players. Liggins as a situational guy for a couple of minutes a game is fine, but 16 minutes a game is way too much.

I’d take Brown or Vaughn over Liggins.

How Jason Kidd of you to forget about this guy.

Vaughn doesn't like your question.

The company KG puts Thon in in this article is hilarious - https://sports.vice.com/en_us/article/bjd7xz/a-qanda-with-kevin-garnett-area-21?utm_source=vicesportstwitter

And I will say, I’m impressed with Embiid. I’m impressed with Karl-Anthony Towns. I’m impressed with Jokic. Porzingis. The Greek Freak. Thon Maker. The skill set of the big now, one-legged fadeaways, off glass, off the spin, like, it feels like the big can do more and is expected to be more versatile these days. And it’s impressive. I’m very much impressed.
