Bledsoe Thread

Post#1 » by Fotis St » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:57 pm

Just post your opinion about Bledsoe's game, how he fits with our team and everything else you want to talk about.

Any concerns ?

What type of Center would be a good pair for Bledsoe ?

I am really happy for him and the Bucks and I will start with his beautiful smile, fits perfectly to Giannis smile.
Keep smiling, keep balling.

OK, I will start with what I was impressed.

I was so so so so happy ... with Bledsoe's D on Reggie Jackson against the Pistons.
Eric was locked on him ... He did not stuck to almost any pick, he was amazing. I recognised R.Jackson's body language to be frustrated and helpless against the rage of Eric's D on him.

For the concerns and what type of Center he would fit more ... I think Cousins is the perfect C for the Bledsoe-Giannis duo.
A Center that can stretch the floor would be a great fit and I wish Eric could recruit Cousins in summer.

only concerns about his health. i feel like he can be our pg of the future. i dont think his game is going to age all that well, so hopefully he develops a shot.

center to pair with him? giannis. giannis is the center i would pair with him. then id surround those 2 with 3 snipers.

Watching him on D the other day was very impressive. He was so active it was memorizing.

And when was the last time we had a guy that was clutch?

Ι love Giannis, you all know that.

However the other day against the Pistons in the end when we absolutely needed a bucket, it was so so nice to just give the ball to Bledsoe instead of clenching my ass while watching a Giannis side-step fadeway midrange jumper that he really, really has no business taking.

Biggest concerns are his knee/s and previous demands for a max contract which I imagine is a lot of money.

I enjoy how sick of losing he is from being in Phoenix the last few of years, even if he secretly wants to be somewhere warmer.

maybe its because of Bledsoe,
maybe the coaching staff made a change,

but our defensive concept of always switching, has changed a bit.
we used to see Henson, Thon, Mirza switch onto the opposing teams PGs.
now, this is NOT happening.
Bledsoe is not trying to switch with a big,
hes fighting around and through screens to get back to his man.

i dont think enough people are noticing this change, or talking about it.

Not sure if this is coaching instructions ... maybe (most possible) Bledsoe doesn't know our def scheme and we quit on it, so everyone now plays with their insticts and through communication on switches. Bledsoe's speed and experience helps him on D, he fights through screens and he doesn't switch.
Is Bledsoe our savior to get rid of our terrible def scheme ? Maybe.

Giannis rolled great in 3-4 PNRs in the Pistons game only to pass him the ball behind him or in bad time.
In the PNR before the clutch Bledsoe shot he took the pass and had room to drive but he hesitated because he just came back to the game cold and had foul trouble and screwed up.
These are >50% shot opportunities for Giannis and 9/10 times both of the defenders have to stay with Giannis in order to contain him leaving Bledsoe wide open to take the mid range shot just like the clutch shot he made in the end.

If we need a bucket in the clutch the PNR between Bledsoe and Giannis is our best choice right now. They just need better chemistry between them. I know they already look good together but don't forget that Bledsoe didn't even have a shootaround with the team before that game because of the schedule and his knee issue.

Bledsoe/Giannis PNR=> Bledsoe wide open shot/Giannis roll and bucket/Giannis finds the open shooter.

we still over help and allow open 3s,
but, if we stopped the extreme switching, PGs with C/PF
thats a step in the right direction.

if an adjustment was made, for Bledsoe, or by the coaches,
i HOPE they dont go back.
the D looks improved.
i feel like the mismatches are lessened,
and the other teams iso opportunities are also less.

depending on the PF and C combo in the game,
id rather the wing on the weak side, NOT, over help leaving his man open for 3,
and just stall the driving offensive player enough, for our PF or C to get back into position.

*
ill have to pay more attention to Brogdons and Dellys defense.
r they switching still, or, r they fighting through screens to get back to their man
i think Liggins is also trying to stay with his man at all times.

I tried to make a point of watching the changes in defense for the first quarter last game. Biggest difference was that bigs didn't go out as far or for as long on the pick and roll. Still overhelping by habit leading to threes but less so. The ones that **** me are the obviously stupid overhelps like one play where Liggins sags into the lane when Tobes was driving with Giannis in position tracking him. Just totally not needed. General **** ups usually had Snell as a major player.

i remember the Liggins help one....
Giannis DOESNT need help.
that should be an easy fix.
when its Giannis and 1 of our Cs,
everyone else, just stay on ur man.

also, if our defender is so out of position that makes our wing think he has to get in there and help,
our wing is still not in a good position to actually affect the play.
and even if they do get there, then theres a wide open 3pt shooter.

just trust G, Henson, Thon can protect the rim.

ill add Snell to the watch list,
and see if he is over helping / switching / leaving guys wide open for 3

...could still be cause of coaching directions
