The other thread was just about maxed out. We have the trade deadline coming up in 13 days. Personally I think we stand pat.

Predicting small trade for a big, or something where Vaughn gets absorbed to a team for nothing or Jet goes to a contender to open up a roster spot to sign Plumlee or Withey or something.

Yeah, I don't see a major trade happening. I also guess a small C trade.

Getting Parker back will make a big difference.

Small trade for a center is my guess as well. Don't see us connecting on any of the speculation around Jordan, Favors or Whiteside.

Quick notes (unless I am missing something or my info is outdated):

We are $4,310,379 below the luxury tax threshold.

We have three trade exceptions:
Miles Plumlee (expires 02/02/18) — $1,151,241
Roy Hibbert (expires 02/23/18) — $5,000,000
Greg Monroe (expires 11/07/18) — $3,384,176

We may owe a second round pick to the Suns this year (top 48 protected) or to Philly in 2019 (higher between Bucks and Kings). So any 2nd rounder you are adding to a deal must be in 2020 or later, if my understanding is correct.

Food for thought while you consider trade possibilities.

I think we're going to see multiple trades and action on the buyout market. We have a new, young GM who has just won a power struggle. He has Edens' ear. He's going to try to make the team into what he wants it to be.

Dedmon or bust.

I thought he doesn't have bird rights and he was almost for sure opting out. He'd be fun as a rental to win games this year, but I don't see much of a way to retain him unless we shed salary. I could be wrong.

Any more news on a Deng buyout? There were talks they were negotiating in November and now nothing. He’d be an interesting pickup for someone and probably spur on some other moves.

Jazz were interested in Hernangomez. I’d be interested in an improved Udoh coming back. He’s not a great rebounder, but he is one hell of a defender.

Everyone talking about guys like Dedmon, Zeller, and Rolo, but I'm still interested in packaging Telly + Henson for Biyombo. So long as either the 2019 Brooklyn 2nd rounder or the 2020 OKC protected-1st are coming back.

I know we have a separate trade thread but with the trade deadline looming I'm going to close that one down and we'll go with this thread

Bucks get: DJ/WIlliams
Blazers get: Middleton/Wilson
Clippers get: McCollum/Telly

Looking at our salary situation... I still can't believe we had to stretch an expiring Hawes. That contract would have value if we wanted to make a deal.

Yeah that one sucked big time. I really don't think we had to stretch him either

That move still baffles me. He'd be valuable packed into a deal right now or we could've let him expire.

Question Ron, given Biyombo is owed two more years (after this one) at 17M per year, would you rather do the trade you suggested or a second round pick and let's say Vaughn for Harrell or Chinaua Onuaku?

I'm not saying that either of those are on the table, but I like that idea way more than adding Biyombo at that salary

That cut made no sense. Hawes looked quite decent on the floor on the few games he played - he also won us a game if I remember correctly. I'd take any amount of Hawes minutes over Thon's spazzing

Wonder what happens with Jet. He was a Kidd guy, but Brogdon and Giannis seem to be players he has really made an impact on. Giannis in particular has brought up Jet in quite a few interviews over the last 2 years.

It will be nice going into next season knowing that Giannis is ready to be our veteran leader. He’s become really vocal over the last year and it’s great to see. No more Jet, KMart, etc. on this team in 18-19.
