BUT I believe you remember the article that even bad% 3pt shooters can stretch the floor if they launch alot with zero hesitation. The article (video) was about Marcus Smart from the Celtics. The conclusion was that even if you pretend to be a good 3pt shooter ... the defense will stay close to you which opens the lanes for our 2pt specialists.

Having said all that, I am not sure if Jennings makes any difference, I have no reason to trust him, but he could help us WIN being streaky in one game that could lead to 3-4 and Bucks advance to the next round.

Bottom line is that I am really annoyed how all our guards are just off ball catch n shoot 3pt shooters ... what are they developing all these years?

Consider Jennings as Dorsey (Hawks) the NCAA version ... if he gets hot he can do damage

Lots of people in here are forgetting that our team is full of young players who show up for big games but take a lot of games off during the regular season. Playoffs = everyone is trying hard, rotations are shorter and starters play more minutes. Given the talent disparity between us and the Celtics top 8-9 players (obv not including Irving/Hayward) our try hard should easily beat their try hard even with the massive coaching difference.

If it doesn't then we need to do some major re-tooling this offseason.

Mirza was an example of this, he was shooting poorly but teams still stuck like glue to him because he jacked them up without hesitating. I would like to see Giannis shorten the time it takes him to shoot a 3 and to shoot any open 3 next year without hesitating.

I tend to think that playoff Bledsoe could be a thing. He needs to greatly outplay Rosier and Larkin for us to win the series, but that definitely seems possible.

We lost our first round last year when the Raps finally figured out they didn't need to run away from Thon Maker. We would've lost in 4 if Casey wasn't so slow. Coaching is huge.

Or because Lowry and Derozan reverted to the mean. Demarr was shooting 30% the first few games. He had one game where he didn’t score a single FG and Giannis ripped him for it. Playoffs come down to the big time players.

Yeah but those things don't happen in isolation. They were playing stupidly, driving on Thon and allowing our D to swarm them. It was the easiest thing in the world to play two steps back to stretch the D a bit further and until it breaks, and let Valanciunas abuse Thon. Coaches make these things happen.

How many guys in the NBA shoot 3's at a reasonable clip off the dribble? 10? 15?

Edit, found my own answer:

https://stats.nba.com/players/pullup/?sort=PULL_UP_FG3_PCT&dir=1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&PerMode=Totals&CF=PULL_UP_FG3A*G*50

So, we're talking maybe 25 guys in the league, half of them are max or near-max players. So, guys should just go get that skill. No problem.

This series is close to 50-50 imo.I actually want to say the bucks should be favorites but ive been let down too many times already.

Our actual management posted a lineup with the starting 2 guard being Tony Snell.

But the problem with that is against a team as good as the Celtics we can pretty much not afford to give Jennings that green light to find out if he's having his 1 good game of the series because we'll be down 15 before we know it. If he wasn't such a trash player you could gamble some minutes for him to see what he's got that night but he is garbage and a straight up detriment if he doesn't have it going, which he normally doesn't.

Usually it's the veterans who are taking games during the RS less seriously and ramp up the effort in the PS. Not sure it matters much in this series, though, as both teams are young with a lot to prove and not so much experience.

"Young players showing up for big games" is a point of interest for both teams. The Celtics only have 11 active players, of which 4 are rookies (though 2 possibly are out of the playoff rotation). One of those rookies starts, along with 21 year old Brown and 23 year old Rozier.

These guys have us at 27%. My own estimate earlier was 10% to 20%. I would have gone a little higher had I remembered that Marcus Smart wouldn't be around to flop all over the place, but certainly no higher than a one in four chance.

Maybe playoff Bledsoe will be a thing, or we'll start making threes and defending the three, or Giannis will go off four times. I'm comfortable knowing that we have a decent chance but are likely to lose the series.

Per 36 for us Bledsoe's put up 20/6/5/2 on 59% TS%. If he has an extra gear in him for the playoffs I don't know how we'd lose this series.

I'm honestly not too concerned with Boston coming out and smacking us in games. I think if we have guys show up on the offensive side to overcome Boston's defense we'll be alright. Guys like Midds and Bled have gotten a ton of crap around here (some somewhat deserved) but if those guys can come out and give us a consistent series offensively I think we're in really good shape.

If Giannis is as good as everyone says he is then there is 0 chance we lose this series. No bleeping way Lebron or any top 10 player loses this series at age 23, especially with Midds and Bledsoe.

Ehh. Michael Jordan was swept by Celtics at age 23.

His defense definitely has an extra gear. It comes out sparingly but I have seen some spurts this year where he looks like an all defense guard.

Outside of Jordan and Oakley that team was pretty terrible.

Fun fact, MJ lost in the first round 3 times winning one total game. He was 0-6 vs Bird in the playoffs. But that's better than losing in the NBA finals like LBJ has done. As noted, his teams weren't very good and shouldn't have won. Just like LBJ's teams shouldn't have won either other than the Mavs series, but he made up for that by beating GSW when he shouldn't have.
