Showed some flashes when he returned post-ASB. Too little to go off of. Still love his swiss-army guard potential. Love his athleticism. Room to grow. If he can actually convert his good shooting form into a semblance of consistency, we have a solid rotation player.

I was one of Donte's biggest supporters after he became our selection. I preferred Huerter, really wanted him leading up to the draft, as many of us did. Donte will always be compared to Huerter, and rightfully so.

He brings a lot to the table that you love to see.

+Athleticism
+Energy
+Defensive effort
+Vision
+Scoring instincts
+Offensive boards

If he can harness his jumper and establish some consistency there, he's a high value rotation piece, maybe more. If he continues to struggle there, he's still playable, but the ceiling is getting uncomfortably low.

I've been thinking it'd be cool for Donte to pay for the select team that scrimmages against Team USA this summer, but it looks like he e could be in the process of obtaining Italian citizenship to suit up for Azzurri, following in the path of the legendary Travis Diener. Think it'd be really good for Donte to play a full summer league and go through the tournament alongside the Italians, who have a chance to be one of the better teams at the World Cup. He needs some high stakes game reps heading into a season he'll be likely be needed to replace George Hill.

Bi-lateral heel bursitis doesn't sound all that bad. I get that it's really painful, but it doesn't sound as bad as an ACL tear or something like that. Anyone have any idea on how much of an impact this is going to have on his career? I'm hoping like none when he comes back next season. Or is this something that is going to keep recurring and make him miss a ton of games every year? Is this something that will hamper how well he plays at all?

No I must admit, I would definitely have a pizza at a restaurant called DiVicenzo's.
But a redhead owner would make me a bit suspicious :D

I was DDV all the way and excited he was the Bucks pick. Gotta admit I was expecting more from his rookie year - but hopefully he's 100% healthy next season and steps up.

Options other than "Donte DiVincenzo" that my mother used to identify this thread's namesake while watching Bucks-Wizards on Sunday, October 13, 2019:
Dino
Deontay
Digiorno
Donny

She also asked if he was Italian, not sure if she was trolling me at that point. What I'm sayin is I might have shtposting in my bones.

He does have a natural feel for the game but yes he does need to hit shots consistently if he can do that he will be the starting SG sooner than later.

I'm also in the 'he needs to hit shots' camp, but his all around game is really REALLY good. His off the ball defensive anticipation is off the charts. He rebounds well and has a Bledsoe like ability to dig out loose balls. He can be a tad overaggressive in challenging shots, but he'll learn to pick his spots better. He's just a baller.

The biggest thing that's stood out to me is his defense, and the thing that's surprised me the most is how he's been able to contest shots vertically around the rim. I mentioned it at the time, but there was one play against the Mavs where it looked like Porzingis had an open short jumper and DDV came flying in to make him pass out of the shot.

His fundamentals are extremely good defensively, and he's strong and tough with really quick feet. He's been doing a lot of the things that wowed us about DJ last year, but as a guard. It's telling that we haven't really seemed to miss our starting backcourt at all, and one of them was 1st team all-Defense.

Bo knows.

Update: Mom has decided to continue calling him "Dino." Looks like Thanksgiving will be a highly-charged get-together this year.
