if i have time to go back and look,
ill write out the other 5 plays.
and ill continue to watch for more set plays.

bonus:
if we start tracking the out of bounds plays, which i can remember only 2, but there could b more

Do you recall an action we ran, twice I think, vs DEN that resulted in a wide-open short-range baseline jumper from Ersan? I don't recall how it developed exactly but I think it came off Pat C penetration...?

If you remember, I'm curious if that was what you'd call a set-play? I think it was more of a motion-offense principle development than set-play, but I honestly can't tell. I do recall thinking it reminded me of an action Bud used to run in ATL.

My problem is I have no DVR, so I can't rewatch or pause and rewind etc. So I can't tell the difference always between a real set-play and just a developed and repeated principle in work. Usually only inbounds stuff looks real obviously set-play to me. idk.

ETA: Here's a link to a bballbreakdown article on Bud's offense in ATL. Thought it was interesting.

as much as we want,
Middleton doesnt move like Korver.
especially now that Kidd tried to make Midds into Kobe.
if DiVi gets his 3p shot going, we could run some similar plays for him.
the good thing about that is he also has a high bball iq,
and if the shot for him is not there, he can read the D and make the correct pass

i love the slip screen.
Ersan always tries it, but i can only remember Divi finding guys on it.
everyone else with the ball continues their dribble drive instead of finding the screener.
theres probably been more, but they dont stand out.

those "hammer" screens have been around for a long time.
even the Bucks with Ray Allen back then ran a version of it.

there are some set plays after timeouts.
but mostly its the bball "principles" that we see.
how does that differentiate than set plays tho.
i guess, a set play is called for, and ran.
thinking a certain option is going to be there based on our personnel and the opponents.

still, id hope we would have seen more up to this point.
when playoff bball comes,
we cant just be free wheeling out there,
and hope the 3p shot is falling.
with a player like Giannis, i feel like every play should be in our advantage as the other team always has to help defend him. which opens up everyone else and makes all of the options viable when running the play.
seems as if the 3p shot is more important. (for the entire league)

id like to see Giannis used a bit like Horford and Jokic.
with the guards running around him and back screens along the baseline.
he can pass and read the D very well.
and if its not there, he can just drive himself.

just hope we see more "sets" and plays as we continue.
maybe during this home stand

I agree in general. Especially with the need to run more stuff during playoff ball. Agree making more of Giannis' "gravity" should be job one for this offense. It's a work in progress now, and Giannis himself has a lot of work to do figuring out the new stuff (more than anyone else).

Not sure I agree with using Giannis like Horford and Jokic. Out high, wouldn't his lack of a jumper make that type of action easier to defend?
