Horst Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by Jez2983 » Sat Feb 9, 2019 1:43 am

Not only did he hit the ground like a rocket ship, he managed to dig into the earth and somehow come up the other side with Gold.

You know the drill here people, fantastic hot takes, quotes and memes that may be regrettable as soon as when free agency hits this summer.

In Horst we trust.

He’s built a cohesive team

He’s acquired above average starters at multiple positions. So much so that some of them have to be bench guys.

I approve.

He’s been so adept and savvy as of late I’m almost ready to forgive him for Snell’s contract.

You know, sometimes watching game film is boring. Being a GM is really hard. But, gull dern, he's been a godsend.

Let's also admit:

Wes Edens made a damn good impulsive nationally embarrassing decision. Like, damn good.

Hes been great. Aside from the Ersan and Snell deal (not awful at least) it's hard to find an issue. It will be a very tough offseason to manage through all our free agents. Were kinda strapped for picks and our assets are very thin but were poised to make a deep run this year and Giannis is due for a raise soon so keeping him happy and competitive is a must. A-

Maybe these billionaires who made their money on distressed assets actually know what they are doing.

It seems to be working, but remember the GM hunt was a disaster. This is how I think Horst ended up with the job. The kid is Horst, the towel is the GM job and Mean Joe Greene is Edens/Lasry:

The offseason to come will be the making of him. Until then.

Well it took one guy (Edens) to impose his will on the rest of them, push out Zanik and hire Horst, and push to maneuver Bud here. Unless someone wants to go on the record correcting that, that's what seems to have happened from all reports over the past 18-months.

Too lazy to search the threads from 2014, but when those guys bought the Bucks, I remember commenting that it was good we had three billionaires because that way there would be some checks and balances versus a one owner model.

From what I got during the time Horst was hired is that Horst was always considered talented though he had not made a name for himself yet. Sometimes you've got to give talented guys a chance even if they don't fit the application.

I'd much prefer to have Edens run the show and do the decision making than Lasry. If I'm not mistaken, Edens was the one who pushed to hire Horst and Budenholzer, while Lasry was the one who pushed to hire his buddy Kidd and he also didn't want to hire Budenholzer.
