I like Horford a lot still, but if that 4/112 rumor is legit I’d rather we just stay away from free agency all together.

Some of the post draft podcasts have talked about teams offering Brogdon a 4/80 deal. I am an idiot for thinking that's totally fine?

4/80 for Brogdon is a fair deal for both player and team

Don't know how to quote from a locked thread on my phone, but regarding PP's post on Ersan and potentially trading him for a second or cap relief. The Win in 6 podcast (probably the best Bucks podcast imo) went into this a bit, and made a good argument that Ersan is more valuable than that, and he can contribute to a contender. Unless it means we can upgrade to a true max type player, it's probably best we keep him for this year and his expiring for next.

Horst you magnificent bastard! Getting Thanasis was your trump card. Sign him to a two-way, get him in some games then get him a contract next year will all but ensure Giannis resigns. Who know Thansis might surprise us and be playable.

I think this is true. Unlike Snell who was mostly useless and even more overpaid. I think Ersan does bring value and isn't really even on a bad deal. It's just that we may prefer to use that on someone else, like Lopez.

So, yeah Ersan is probably still a valuable player and he isn't paid a ton. He may be sacrificed so that the starting band can stay together.

Thanasis hasn't shown to be much of an NBA talent. Perhaps he's improved. Rather have Kostas.

I am sure Giannis is thrilled.

The only team that should be giving Horford that kind of money is the Lakers.

I get really nervous thinking about all of our pieces coming back on multi year deals. Even if trading Ersan helps us retain Lopez, I don't know if it's worth it. Lopez is older and already a liability in the playoffs. He could be a negative asset as soon as next year (as could Middleton and Brogdon). I'm not even a huge Ersan fan, it just raises red flags and makes me uneasy.

For example, why move assets so we can pay Lopez to stay, a year after he had lil suitors in free agency, when we could search for undervalued guys and try to optimize them (much like we did with Lopez last year). Guys like Baynes and Dedmon come to mind. We say it every year, be patient and don't bid against yourself. Let other teams blow their wad and then sweep up the bargains on team friendly deals.

What type of deal is considered team friendly for Lopez? 3 years $24 mil?

To your first post, agreed that Ersan will bring back positive value if we were comfortable dealing him to Philly, Boston, etc. After free agency, one of those teams will be short a big.

On Lopez, I think his contract ends up closer to 3/$45. Bud just showed the league how you use the guy on offense and defense. Team like Boston or LAL offers him that.

Personally not worried at all on that deal. Brogdon and Middleton are going to be the high risk deals.

Lowe Post brought up Brogdon potentially going multiple places, and said Brogdon was their 2nd best player in the ECF, which I agree with. I also believe he was our 2nd best player all season, though it’s close. Heard another pod call Brogdon a backcourt Horford, which makes sense. You just don’t give up a player like Brogdon.

I’d take Brogdon at 4/80 over Midds at the same contract, let alone whatever he’ll actually get.

I think Lopez was very important in Giannis MVP season. Lopez guarded the 5. Boxed the 5 out of the lane. Created space for him.
Lopez is 31. He has another contract in him. He played bad in the playoffs but he hasn't been there in awhile.
Dont underestimate the importance of Lopez.

I think it's been touched on pretty much all year. Rank the importance of Bucks starters minus Giannis.
For me in the regular season. Brogdon/Bledsoe/Lopez all played very important roles. In that order and can be argued either way.
Alot here thought Bledsoe should've made ASG over Midds.
Now the guy getting max or near max can be argued least important.
Khris played an important role as well. But it seems to me that role could be filled by someone at a more reasonable deal.
I would be fine with the 5yr 140to150 but will be disappointed at anything over.

To add to my point above. Bud runs this offense thru Giannis and the rest of the guys have roles and need to play well together.
This is why players like DJ, Patty C, Hill played so well off the bench. They filled a role in Buds offense. And as much as Snell is overpaid. Buds offense was good for him. Snell hit his usual 3s but also showed more ability to drive because of the spacing.
Alot of ppl complained about Snell all year because of what he got paid. Take that out of the equation and he would still be on this team if he was paid reasonably for a bench player.

I could see the Rockets offering first round picks to a team with cap space to take Chris Paul if that means they could sign Butler.
