ElPeregrino wrote:Let's not take anything for granted. Giannis' greatness will be determined by his longevity. He's already surpassed the peak of the consensus greatest PF of all time, Tim Duncan. Giannis is scoring more than Jordan or Kareem ever did. But the GOATs are GOATs because they sustained greatness. We've seen countless players look destined for greatness and fall off a cliff. Tracy McGrady and Dwight Howard were consistently in the discussion for best player in the NBA when they were Giannis' age and a couple seasons later they were a shell of their former selves.

The legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said it on TV (forget which show) about talent and athleticism. I think they were talking about Dwight Howard when he was traded from Orlando to LA.

"Potential has a shelf-life." An absolute truth. I think if you had to pick a singular trait from Giannis that separates him from other elite talents is his work ethic and desire to improve as a player. He takes his craft very seriously and now he has high-level coaching to help accelerate his development. We're seeing his intense devotion to his craft unfold as the season moves along. He looks more comfortable and confident with his jumper and he's showing more patience.

His next step, IMO, is to work on developing 2-3 automatic post-up moves. Get a consistent jump hook with either hand and a reliable fadeaway from the block. He has often done that little running hook in the paint (a la Duncan). If he can get to the point to where he can turn and shoot a baby hook with either hand, the game will get that much easier for him. Coupled with his improved outside shot then it's truly checkmate for his opponents.

And, of course, we all know he has to clear the mental hurdle at the FT line. Much like last season with his 3 he seems to hesitate a ton at the stripe. He should take 2-3 less dribbles and not hold the ball to his chest. Just let it go sooner and don't think about it too much.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

If he wins one, his accomplishments are Dirk tier: a guy who redefined his position, won an MVP, and won a title. I think he’s going beyond that, but Shaq won 4 championships.

Little kids getting super emotional when they interact with Giannis is one of my favorite things. This video is missing Giannis lifting her up to get her on the court for a picture. I found that so endearing for some reason.

The illustrious Kid Mero stays keeping the third eye open regarding the questioned legality of Giannis's ballhandling:

Even with his end of the month 3pt struggles, Giannis finished December with a 39.1%.

33.1% overall.

If someone can splice the Harden dome shot with thr movie clip of Giannis saying' "Dead, gone" (or is he saying go on?), on a loop...that would be supreme. TIA
