I'm trying to think under what circumstances I'll consider Khris's contract to be good.
1. Winning a championship.
that's all I got. there is nothing he can do to warrant that contract--he's just not that good--but it could be the right decision if the team succeeds.

I wish Giannis was lovable enough that Kawhi would have come here, even on a short deal.

Mids stats without Brogdon in the lineup were around 22ppg IIRC.

It is reasonable to think a second year under Bud, when the first year was a bit rocky, could see an uptick in production.

But, with a new baby at home, it is also reasonable that Mids doesn't hit a treadmill until September as well.

So, we'll see.

For all we know Kawhi might have called Giannis about forcing a trade to the Clippers.

The outrage or dislike of the Middleton contract is confusing to me.

Was it not like 3-4 years ago that we had discussions over who was better between Klay and Khris? And posting their basketball reference numbers and talking about how similar they are?

It was a fair contract for the player and his performance thus far. I genuinely don't get all the anger.

Here’s your answer:

Those that don’t like the contract, myself included, have more information and more Middleton experiences to have the opinion of: All basketball things considered, Khris Middleton isn’t worth a Max or near Max deal.

:D

Those conversations were....questionable at the time and that was before Khris quit consistently giving a **** on defense.

Actually, he picked it up a bit last season.

After the issue that I don't think he's worth nearly that much, the second issue is I don't think you should give a max contract to a guy who really doesn't fit into the system he's playing (and has only been willing to make modest changes to his approach).

Well it's done. No use getting all worked up. I don't like it but time to look ahead and hope he lives up to it. We are definitely contenders this year. Looking forward to a fun season.

One thing I won't do is hope he fails so I can say "I knew it".

What type of realistic season could Khris have to make you think he played up to his contract? I mean thinking he's gonna magically turn into a 30pt scorer on elite efficiency isnt realistic. But with Brogdon gone, Khris and Giannis both should see a sizable uptick in usage so how much better should Khris be now on this contract and already coming off a career year?

Here's where I say, loudly: neither is Klay.

Since Brogdon supposedly didn't want to be here, if we refused to pay Middleton and he signed elsewhere then people would be up in arms at the Bucks' complete failure of an offseason. Middleton is obviously not "worth" this much money but he's a good player who makes the (title contending) Bucks better and his contract isn't blocking the Bucks from signing anybody else. It's not a perfect situation but it does put the Bucks in a better position than many of the realistic alternatives.

Perfect storm for free agents this offseason. Teams had a **** ton of cap to spend and little reason to hold onto it until next season (terrible FA class). There wasn’t value to be had, but you also can’t just punt Free Agency when you’re a legitimate title contender. That’s the conundrum the Bucks faced.

We learned tonight the going rate to trade away a $40mm dollar plus fifth year on a declining player.
