Ron Swanson wrote:For all the talk about the 3PT era and how it's a "shooter's league" now, you look at the list of Top-10 or so players and it's still mostly comprised of dudes who are physically dominant/freakish athletes (Giannis, Lebron, Kawhi, AD, Durant, Embiid, Paul George). So yeah, unless you're just god-tier skilled (Curry, Jokic, Harden), the freak athlete types are still the ones that almost always end up comprising the majority of the superstar player pool.

The difference being now that those freak athletes can also regularly take and hit the 3. It is shocking for me to go back and look at Jordan’s 3pt %

Loving Kuzma's confidence. Him taking a leap, which imo doesn't even need to be that great, could make LAL a WC favorite.

Did someone say Zion doesn't t have natural playmaking ability?

All you have to do is watch his one-handed needle- threader from the Kentucky game to know that's false.

It's pretty remarkable how much media hype/attention Kyle Kuzma has gotten thus far in his career for basically being a poor-man's Tobias Harris.

I dont watch a ton of replays but will always stop for Iverson's 48 vs LA. What a fun ass game.

Kuz has to shoot and play D at a much higher level but it’s not beyond him.

This is a good thing:

Teams are now expected to make available licensed mental health professionals and a licensed psychiatrist, among others as outlined by The Athletic.

Idk what happened last year. Kuz shot ~37% from 3 on volume his rookie year, most of which were C&S. The "superstar" aspiration is unlikely but if he gets his 3pt% back to rookie year levels, then should everything else remain the same he's probably already a better third option than Love was in CLE's championship year.

Sure he's a poor man's version of current Tobias but age 23 Tobes (in his then 5th year w/ significant experience) was hardly better than Kuz last year, and those numbers were inflated by a good month-and-a half to end the season after his trade to DET.

Isn't Roy Hibbert being a development coach some sort of oxymoron? He peaked at like 25 and un-developed.

It is a good thing. Over here the biggest sporting league, the Australian Football League (AFL, aussie rules/the crazy jumping on top of other people one), has just announced a Head of Mental Health and a Chief Psychiatrist that have both been employed to oversee a program to ensure it's at the forefront of team responsibilities. I think it's an excellent move.

There's a small article on it below, but it has a telling quote from a great young player, Adam Treloar, that I'm sure is applicable to all professional sports;
“You deal with so much, we deal with anxiety on performance, expectation on performance, people ridiculing you,” he said. “I think it’s important that people outside of footy understand that we are human beings.”

No more Zaza unfortunately. Still waiting for the “Nothing Easy: My Midnight Train Back to Georgia” Player’s Tribune article to drop on Pachulia’s decision to take his talents home to Tbilisi.

Justin Patton... Why is that name familiar. Feel like I only know it because of this forum.
