Dick Vitale thinks the Badgers are the team to beat in the Big East.

Dick Vitale is an idiot. People called him an idiot and he deleted tweet that made him look like an idiot. Basically said Gard faced turmoil and led Badgers to Big East honors.

So what happens if 2020-2021 is affected in terms of player eligibility? Let's say the entire season is cancelled. Are all current team players retaining the status they would have had going into 2021-2022? The bountiful UW classes for next year and the following all of a sudden could become a snarling traffic jam. Imagine a scenario in 2021-2022 in which Trice, Davison, the Davis Brothers, Hepburn and Bowman are all angling for time. How about a front court where Reuvers, Carlson, Hodges and Mors are trying to get tick? All of a sudden this huge talent influx could become a liability.

Basically look at college baseball next season, that's exactly what's happening there

Yeah, I've also wondered this, but I would say:

1. I think some guys would maybe just move on. Maybe not all and it appears that Trice loves playing but he's like 23 or something already. I'm not sure if international leagues would be ready but he'd probably just try to start playing in whatever league is available...maybe? Ditto on Potter, who may have very fringe NBA prospects if he keeps shooting the way he has been.

2. I do think they'll play in some capacity. I know it's right over the projected "outbreak" months, but think of how far we've come in 2.5 months...I feel like ~6 months from now there may be other advancements we are not even thinking of.

Badgers offered Louis Lesmond, 6'5 shooting guard yesterday. I don't think they'd have made this offer unless they are pretty confident he will come to Wisconsin.

This 2021 class is a beast so far, even with missing out on Roper, who for the life of me I can't figure out why he chose Northwestern. I guess he's a legacy, but it is what it is.

Lesmond would be a huge haul for this class and brings a different kind of guard to the program. He has size 6'5 and growing. Foot speed might not be there, but he's an assassin shooting the rock.

While not following as closely as I have in years past, my general vibe on these offers is that they're shooting a bit higher and at the right level of kids. We've been a top program for 20 years, you can get involved in 4 stars. And with it they seemed to have learned not to put all their eggs in one basket like the Herro/Hauser and have learned to really not chase elite 5 stars like we have a real shot. Focus on this level of guy early and you should be able to get a 2-3 a year. We'll see, hope the results keep coming.

Yes and no...Gard figured something out with recruiting after a few weird classes/failures, but I think we might be back to, "all eggs in one basket" generally for THIS scholarship. I think there is only one opening for 2021 and they can afford to be picky here.

I think the other ones, yeah, a wider net on realistic targets. But now we're back to being picky with the last spot.

It looks like there are a few Wisconsin late risers that are good and may be interested but we're basically full. That's a usual story that plays out and I'm not sure it's something we'll never see just given the small rosters that you generally see in college bball. Graham from Nicolet just blew up to the point of getting a Michigan State offer but we have not yet.

Feels good to be doing this dance again. Juices are flowing.

Right yea there is only one left now. But throughout these classes prospects they've taken shots at a lot of higher level guys. That's really all I was getting at. And like I said, I've followed way less than in the past. But we should have some cache after this long of being good, stick your foot in the door more often on higher level guys and you'll close some. That seems to be a step up from years past(I dont just mean Gard era, beyond) as opposed to kinda settling for the stereotype of a WI recruit. I'm all for stepping in and fighting for the non elite type level guys. Like let those top whatever 30-50ish guys take up their spots, swing for the rest. Our winning should get a foot in the door. Essentially I'm just in favor of casting a wider net among higher level players than we've targeted in the past. Seems to have good results so far, hope it keeps up.

Youre right. Even if it doesn't pan out, they can bank the ship and push it to 2022 and even out the classes more. So, a high quality top 100 kid.. sure why not, offer him. Anything else, they can be very picky as was said above.

Apparently Kobe King will no longer be headed to Nebraska due to personal reasons. Hope he's ok.

He'll end up somewhere. He probably is getting a waiver and somebody else promised him more playing time or he found a perceived better fit.

I do see some places where they are suggesting he may just be stepping away from basketball right now, but not sure how true that is.

Why is he getting a waiver?

The incident of racism that either really made him leave or he will claim made him leave. Justin Fields got it, King will.
