ATJ has some monster shoes to fill. I'm skeptical of the direction Miller's going here but have been yearning for the follow-up since Fury Road came out, so I'm happy that a legit plan is forming.

Having a hard time getting into 'The Haunting of Bly Manor'. Just me or anyone else? 3 episodes in and I'm waiting to care about the characters and story.

Just finished season 1... weird show, can’t decide how I felt about it honestly.

Spoiler:
The alien snake looked like the thing from Dreamcatcher... but this show has to somehow tie into the Prometheus/Alien world... doesn’t it?

I hope he is still a lumberjack.

I really don't feel that Fury Road needed a spin-off movie. It's not like Theron couldn't play a younger version of herself, so that she didn't sign on to reprise the role has me a bit skeptical.

Lame. Hollywood age-ism at it's finest I guess.

Age-ism is very real, but there's more to it than that.

some thoughts on Haunting of Bly Manor

Spoiler:
Haunting of Bly Manor is incredibly slow, basically nothing happens in the first 4 episodes but it starts picking up after that point. 5th episode is best of the season FWIW tho. Haunting of Hill House is one of favorite series ever and am a huge Mike Flanagan fan but Bly Manor was kind of disappointing. Predictable, too slow, too many characters, terrible fake accents, plot holes and subplots they just drop without ever mentioning again, didn't like ending. Positives are Hannah/Owen, Peter Quint, and Viola. I didn't care for Dani as the lead protagonist, the other characters I struggled to really care about. Owen because he's by far the most likable character and Jaime because of her importance to the story needed far more fleshed out backstories. The the little girl is cute with her calling everything "perfectly splendid" but I didn't really care much about the kids otherwise. This season was supposed to be more of a "gothic romance" which I just didn't relate to, the first season's dynamic with the estranged family & the themes of trauma/mental health/suicide/drug addiction was much more engaging and emotional to me personally on top of just being a better ghost story interwoven thru non-linear time which Bly also attempts. I'd say Bly Manor is 6/10 compared to the 10/10 Hill House, not quite True Detective season 2 bad at least.

As good as Theron was, the star of Fury Road was Miller, and Anya Taylor-Joy is good enough I think that it at least won't be an issue.

In this case specifically or generally speaking? I know George thinks de-aging technology is too novel atm.

Just meant generally. No inside scoop or anything, but I promise you one actor was a lot cheaper than the other.

If you haven’t already read it, this article about the Fury Road production is fascinating. While it ended up a classic, the shoot was a nightmare and Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy did not get along. Not saying that played into the decision to go prequel, but who knows.
