What year was the offseason where all the role players got $70M because of the projected skyrocketing cap? It seems like the same thing is happening this year and it doesn't make any sense after 1/3 of the season with no fans.

(Yes, I'm aware that if we had actual cap room we'd probably be doing the same thing)

I've been thinking about that too. What are these teams doing? Future trade chips?

Pro sports leagues and owners are notorious for cooking their books. Today’s spending, despite half a season without fans, shows you how much these guys are really making.

I really wish small market teams would just start conspiring. Like I wish someone came to the Bucks and was like, "we're going to highly discount our best guy in a trade to you because we also hate the Lakers. Go win a few 'ships then return us the favor someday."
