This somewhat confirms that the Bucks knew if they did work out some deal with the Kings, it would just go against them big-time in the league investigation (or the league flat out told them hands off)

If it's not reverse engineered so we can't trade for it (e.g. high starting salary but declining) Sacramento can match and trade him to us later.

Hope Sac forces him to stay. Everyone’s picking their narrative on this, so I’m going to go with the assumption that it was Bogdan that boned us.

Whether Atlanta or Sacramento, if one of those teams is willing to trade him to us midseason.....it means we wouldn't want him at that point. i.e. He wouldn't be setting the world on fire enough to take on the 4/$72 contract. Or if he was, we'd never have the trade assets at that point. We needed to get him now, under the deal they had in hand.

One positive to missing out on this deal is that the team doesn't have another big contract making it harder to maneuver the next couple seasons.

One of two things are true here:

1) This was an under-the-table punishment handed down by Silver (don't go after Bogdan and the "investigation" will turn up nothing)

2) All this talk about Bogdan wanting to come to Milwaukee and being friends with Giannis was a bunch of BS

I'm going with #1. Silver was mentored by the master, David Stern. There was way too much smoke about Bogdan coming here, even before the "trade announcement" last Monday night.

And frankly, the penalties for something like this would have broke the Bucks. We can't afford to lose any draft picks in the future, period.

Ugh Atlanta has a 15% trade kicker which pops his contract to 21 mil per year...
