If we do have #42, a list of guys I'm considering:
Cassius Winston – The first 4 guys here are guys that I would have liked at #24 as well and seems like one of them could be available at 42 (if we have that pick). Arguably the top shooter in the draft, good decision maker out of pick-and-roll, and competitive player on the defensive end. However, he’s a senior and he’s a very underwhelming athlete.
Xavier Tillman – Not the psycho that Draymond Green is, and no, I don’t think we’ll see him turn into a potential Hall of Famer, but he has a lot of similarities to his fellow Michigan State alum.
Robert Woodard – Was projected to go around #24 for most of the draft process but more and more I’ve seen him sliding a bit. Just a good role player, makes all the little plays, good athlete, improved a lot as a shooter.
Ty-Shon Alexander - Pretty good shooter and absolutely tenacious defensive player. He's the exact type of guy you love to have coming off your bench and with the shot creation we have in the starting lineup at this point, there's a world where he could slot in as an effective nominal starter IMO.
Yam Madar – A 25-30% 3 point shooter at PG obviously isn’t ideal for us, and he’s still pretty scrawny, but he defends his butt off and has the kind of quickness, ball-handling, and finishing ability that you love in a PG prospect. Also a good FT shooter so there may be hope for him as a shooter. Downside is I don’t know if he plans to come over to the NBA right away and that’s pretty much a requirement for whatever draft picks we have.
Elijah Hughes – I generally do not like my Syracuse alumni as draft prospects (and for good reason). I at least kinda like Hughes though. Just pretty solid across the board. Pretty good athlete, pretty good shooter who can score in a variety of ways, underrated passing ability, and he blocked a decent amount of shots on the back line of the 2-3 zone.
Tre Jones – Kinda similar to his brother Tyus Jones. Very good defensive player, very high basketball IQ, just a good caretaker of the basketball. He improved as a shooter this past season but it’s still a question mark for him. Also been healing from injury and supposedly has tested very well athletically after not really showing it at Duke.
Jah’mius Ramsey – I don’t really like him as a prospect, but his talent level is high enough that he needs to be considered if he falls to 42.
Nico Mannion – Same deal as Ramsey.
Payton Pritchard – It’s surprising to me that Malachi Flynn’s draft stock as apparently soared while Pritchard’s hasn’t budged. I tend to think of them in the same way. It’s entirely possible that I just can’t get past "senior white PG that shoots well and plays hard and smart", but still, I think he’s a pretty good PG prospect and should be considered if available.
Daniel Oturu – He’s a sophomore big man that averaged 20/11/2.5 blocks in what was arguably the best basketball conference this past season. Don’t think I need to go much further than that.
