I've liked Huerter from day 1 over DDV, though. I think he'll have a better career.

Give me Frank Mason to fill that final spot. Dump Wilson for a pick.

What pick, a 2039 7th?

No we would get some future 2nd.

We'd have to give up the pick, because of his salary. If he was a minimum guy, then plenty teams would want to take a look, because he can defend.

Still think we make a move with him. Moving him and a 2nd opens 2 more salary slots, or we take back a minimum guy but now have room for a 15th guy.

Wilson and a 2nd for Justin James. Sign Alex Len.

I want to say that we’ve improved as much offensively as we’ve regressed defensively. So no not hugely.

Obviously Jrue is better than Bledsoe. I think Jrue can make DJ Augustin better by playing SG at times and giving us two shooters+ball handlers at the guard position. Nobody was guarding Bledsoe off the ball and now we can put volume 3pt shooters on the floor that can also attack a close out (at least better than before) at all times around Giannis. Hope that Bud let’s them run PnR more. Love the fit of Jrue+DJ+Forbes (and hopefully Merrill). Hoping for growth in DDV, hope he was watching all the little things that Wes brought to the team. Also hope that Bud continues to work with DDV on drives and PnR.
I also like Portis over the combo of Robin+Ersan offensively. Ersan attacking a close out was always painful to watch. Hopefully Portis can learn how to take a charge. I feel like Portis is going to shoot open shots that Ersan hesitated to in the past. Again Portis has shown that he can hit 3s at a high percentage at a high volume.
Hope that Nwora can shoot more consistently (and also at volume) than Wilson has.
Craig gives us options for a defensive stopper lineup
So IDK, optimistic. Hopefully Wilson has a breakout season or he’s an expiring trade bait along with Pat to get something
Shoot, Move, and Communicate...

Spoiler:

I'm just here for my own amusement,"don't take offense at my innuendo..."

Countless waze, we pass the daze...

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

Can someone show me a source that lists our cap and says we don't have space for a minimum contract? I really don't see it. I've tripple checked my math and I don't have us facing the hardcap.

I guess Forbes signed with the rest of the MLE - there's no other way to make it a 2y deal - and have this as our current roster.

1. Middleton.....$33,051,724
2. Giannis........$27,528,088
3. Holiday........$26,231,111
4. Brook..........$12,697,675
5. Augustin.......$6,700,000 (MLE)
6. Pat.............$5,300,000 (apx)
7. Wilson.........$4,548,280
8. Portis..........$3,623,000 (BAE)
9. DDV.............$3,044,160
10. Forbes........$2,558,000 (MLE)
11. Thanasis......$1,701,593
12. Craig..........$1,620,564 (min)
13. Vet............$1,620,564 (min)
14. Merrill........$898,310
15. Nwora........$898,310
- Leuer............$3,169,348
- Sanders.........$1,865,546
- total............$136,786,273

Augustin and Forbes combined can't cost more than MLE money (9,258,000mil) and we know Portis took the full BAE and Craig signed a vet contract. When can definitely sign one more player and stay under the 138,928,000 mil apron.

Haha. Huerter was my guy that draft and tbh I actually didn't like Donte very much at all. I just think now that we've seen them both in the NBA, Donte has defensive talent & feel that Huerter will simply never touch, while there's a decent chance Donte becomes a 15 ppg on 37% 3PT kinda guy offensively. Just think as a two-way guy there's a more realistic path to Donte contributing more for a title team than Huerter.

Who is this Leuer guy?

I vaguely remember Sanders, albanian fighter, skateboarder, painter, rapper.

Why do we still pay for these people wouldn't be better to have finished with their contract when we were not contenders and now have 5 millions to spend?

I would feel even better about this roster if we knew Bud would play Giannis, Kris, Jrue, DJ, and Brook all 38-40mpg in the playoffs.

I think you can't add a second year without using an exception. Either way the argument that we can't sign a 15th player can't be right.

Also as I see it now, I actually like Pat's contract. It would be that or some other minimum deal that would allow Bucks avoid the tax too. At least now the owners are committed in paying the tax and Pat's salary will help facilitate another trade moving forward. I mean Pat + Wilson can bring back a 10 mil contract in the deadline from a lottery team.

Unpopular opinion, DJ Wilson is really important for our bench, he is the backup for Gianiss. Nwora could outplay Wilson but even then it's possible that DJ may have to back up Brook if Portis can't figure it out.

DJ doesn't play with the fire we need but he is multi skilled and versatile.

Is the roster hugely improved?

Depends on your definition of “hugely”. Is upgrading Bledsoe and Wes to Holiday and DDV? I’m pretty confident saying yes. Is DJ Augustine the perfect replacement for George Hill? I’m pretty confident saying yes. I won’t call him an upgrade but it’s a fair wash. Is replacing Korver Ersan Marvin Wes with Portis Craig Forbes an upgrade to the bench? I’m pretty confident saying yes.

The only 2 real question marks I have now is DDV as a starter and Pat getting a bigger role. 1 definitely has the chance to make us better and the other Id have to reserve judgement based on whether or not Pats bigger role carries into the playoffs.

I’ve seen a lot of outcry over lack of defensive pieces, are we better with Bogdanovich in the starting lineup and DDV in Sacramento? A leap from DDV would likely be a bigger needle mover than Bogdanovich being a 4th option scorer and alternative playmaker in the starting lineup.

Shaky accounting here as you've got Wes being replaced twice, once by a guy who was already on the roster.

All and all I’d say say short answer to your question is yes. This off-season is a tentative A, when Giannis resigns it’s an A+++.

Holiday/DDV/Khris/Giannis/Brook
Forbes/Augustin/Craig/Portis

That 9 man rotation is winning right around 60 games, fighting for #1 overall seed and will be expected in the championship.

It’s 100% hypocritical to suggest you were all in last year for a title and there’s nothing but skepticism now. The 9 we have now is just flat out simply a better constructed roster than any previous season in Giannis’ career. Probably the best since 2001, period. ****, probably better than 2001...

You must be talking about somebody else here, because if you're talking about me, it's based on a very bad reading. We absolutely should be competitive for a title, likely better than last year due to top end talent (Giannis is also going to be better, and the impact of that shouldn't be understated). But that's status quo. And we've been better than 2001 for 2 years already.

I feel like Portis is the backup 4? And I highly doubt DJ will out play Nwora...
