Before you guys say no to this let me add:

1. PJ is only 35 and doesn't rely on speed
2. PJ started like every game for the Rockets even in the last 3 years unlike Donte
3. PJ has experience in BIG playoff games where he was actually successful and a main piece unlike Donte
4. Donte is kind of sh#tty on offense anyways so there isn't a loss is there

Tucker at 2, 3 or 4 doesn't matter. Here's his position: run down there and stand in the corner.

On defense his position matters even less.
No matter who he covers he'll automatically be our 3rd best defender on the whole team.

Kurucs' name wasn't even mentioned during Bud's post-practice presser, he only referenced getting PJ.

How do we think this pans out to give Tucker at least 24 minutes a game? I'm guessing Brook loses a few minutes and Bud 6does some tall ball stuff with Giannis playing SF in the regular season.

Jrue, Khris, PJ, Giannis, Brook

I know what you're going to say... Khris can't stay in front of 2 guards. But he also can't stay in front of 3s so it's the same thing, start him

I was actually going to say this is great as PJ will clearly be able to hit 50% of his 3's playing off of Giannis, which is the bare minimum if I understand correctly. You finally got your wish!

I don't know if he will or not but here's the problem:

Donte tries to play like Wade which looks cool but he cant actually make the shots so it ends up sh#tty and in the playoffs it's going to look even more sh#tty when the defense is tougher.

PJ just plays like PJ in regular season and playoffs and that is much preferred for me that he knows what he can do and sticks with it. Much better chance he gets hot on wide open corner 3s since he's been that guy his whole career. Donte is trying to find himself but it hasn't clicked yet.

Plus PJ has been a starter basically his whole career and Donte has bench guy talent.

I don't even need to look at names to know who's posting. I guess that goes both ways when someone sees Frank Ntilikina or Cheick Diallo mentioned.

Lol... I couldn't imagine being PJ Tucker and sitting on the bench while Ragu started wtf.

The PJ is washed up stuff was fine before the trade to keep values down but now that he's here we probably can admit he's our 4th or 5th best player.

What's the excuse for Tucker looking terrible last year? His regression didn't just start this year.

Tucker did well in the playoffs against AD in Game 1. And because he was Houston's only big, he didn't play that well after. This shouldn't be surprising.

Tucker is 35 and will turn 36 before the playoffs. He's got a lot of mileage on him and... last year he was playing a career high 34.3 minutes a game and most of his minutes in the second half of the year came at the C. Is it at all surprising that a 6'5 guy in his mid 30's struggles to produce at peak levels when he's playing more minutes than Steph Curry did in his MVP years?

Tucker will be fine here. He won't be asked to play 35 minutes a game and he won't be the lone C on the roster. Giannis and Portis and Lopez will eat enough minutes in the frontcourt to preserve Tucker and let him go all out in 15-20 minutes a game. Your concerns about him are way overblown.

Good catch. Although the Bucks twitter did welcome him to Milwaukee.

Getting a creeping feeling that Tuck is going to be a game changer for us defensively

Jrue
Donte
Khris
Tucker
Giannis

That's filthy, will be a perfect antidote for nights when Brook is getting cooked. Get Tucker the 20 minutes he should be playing rather than the 30 on the atrocious Rockets and you'll see dividends defensively. Made myself excited

I mean is there another contender he'd start for? Nets looking for a starting 2?

Whether PJ starts or not seems less important than whose clock he takes.

I’m hoping BroLo will look better if he’s playing shorter spurts of minutes in particular.

PJ Tucker wasn't even good enough to be in the league for 5 seasons. Donte is 3 years younger than PJ Tucker was when he finally got an NBA roster spot after being waived his rookie year for Luke **** Jackson. But PJ Tucker has been a starter basically his whole career and Donte has mere bench talent.

You think that would help?

Probably ~75% of contenders in NBA history have had at least one starter worse than DDV. Not actual champions, but contenders. And even champions are probably around 50%.

I already posted a long list that got ignored. Weirdest hill to die on we've had for a while.
