If we don't have guys that can consistently hit open 3s off kickouts and ball movement then Giannis will be fighting triple team virus walls and it won't work. All your advanced stat plus minuses isn't going change that he will either bowl them over and get offensive fouls or he'll get hurt again. LeBron isn't coming to save us; we backed ourselves into a corner with Khris who isn't that dominant as he thinks but he's good enough if he, Jrue and our role players can hit an open 3 in a playoff game when it matters. Anything we can do to add supershooters that can defend, we have to try.
So what is your argument for that fact that we've literally had lineups with guys like Midds/Lopez/Hill/Brogdon/Matthews/Korver etc all fail?
This idea that the wall starts and stops because of a lack of shooting is and always has been silly.
Furthermore, Giannis at the rim is as deadly as any offensive action in the league. The wall is going to be there whether or not our guys hit shots. I agree though that we need our guys to hit those shots and Giannis needs to be able to hit those guys in rhythm, correctly timed so that the wall cannot recover out to those shooters. We've had guys that can shoot but they get played off the floor on defense, can't do much else once they've caught it, and Giannis, whether it's his fault or Bud's fault or a combination is up for debate, has not generated enough rhythm looks.
Jae Crowder last year shot ~32% from 3 but hit well above that on high volume against us, same with FVV in the 2019 ECFs. We also just need our guys to at least maintain their regular season level or even step up for a series beyond scheme adjustments and improvements by Giannis. Law of averages helps though - better shooters means better likelihood of success.
Despite Giannis' clear struggles on offense in the postseason, it was still our defense that was solved by playoff offenses and was responsible for our loss of margin. Our offense was still generally successful
