Healthy Jrue is comfortably top 30 for me, I’d be interested to see the list for anyone who doesn’t have him top 30.

4/139 is totally reasonable for a player of his caliber. He’s in the prime Mike Conley category of I don’t give a **** that he didn’t make the all star team, he’s basically an all-star level player to me.

This can't get any better. I have Jrue worth a 4/140, but he could easily push Milwaukee to the 4/170 he would definitely get as a FA. Holiday gave up 30 mil and people are still talking about Milwaukee overpaying him. I'm also OK with paying 34 y/o Jrue 37 mil. Lowry took 30 mil - with a lower cap - at 34 and is pushing for a 2/50 at age 35. CP3 is getting 40+ at 35 and his is playing that contract too.

So unlikely bonuses aside, he's making less than Khris?

First, Holiday isn't as good as either player. Second, Paul and Lowry aren't the rule. They are exceptions.

4/120. Hopefully one of them will adopt me.

He's definitely not as good of a player as 30-33 year old Chris Paul, but the Kyle Lowry revisionism is always a bit much for me. Dude gets carried to a ring by Kawhi and all of a sudden he's this gold standard for "winning" and a "massive impact" guy when in reality he's always been much closer to a Mike Conley level dude than any of the all-time great PG's. Put Holiday on the Raptors in place of Lowry and we're talking about Jrue being a 5-6 time All-Star and NBA Champion too.

The overpayment for Jrue is less than I expected - especially with the news of the unlikely to reach bonuses, so I'm relieved. Glad they worked it out before the offseason, and there's plenty of room for optimism.

I'd take Jrue over Lowry in a second simply by virtue of his all-world defense.

Bulls fans are out in force telling me how Zach Lavine is only making 20mil and an All Star.

Lowry has been a massive impact player for a long time. This isn't a sudden thing. The problem was, that his partner in crime was Demar Derozan who wasn't at all. While it's fair to slam Lowry for his past playoff struggles, you're the one creating this revisionism by not acknowledging how good Lowry has been for some time now and simply plugging Jrue into Lowry's accomplishments. Jrue has been great this year. He's also spent a lot of time next to Anthony Davis and a lot of time being hurt. So no, we're not talking about an NBA champion ad a 5-6 time allstar.

Jrue is so much better than Lowry has ever been. Kawhi and injured Warriors saved his legacy. CP3 is a generational talent and that's why I have him paid 41 mil at 35 y/o close to paying Jrue 37 mil at 34 y/o (again with the cap way higher). Curry is 33 and he can still lead a team to a championship. 33 y/o Conley at 34 mil is OK for the 1st seeded team in the NBA. Let's not overreact and believe that every NBA player is "washed" by the time he becomes 30. Many age well and especially PGs.

This is just flat out wrong. Lowry's sustained impact over the years is so convincing such that you'd have to think all of these statistical models are designed specifically to put him on this pedestal.Your statement is flat out disrespectful to what Lowry has done in his career. We're literally talking about a guy who was the unquestioned best player on a 48-60 win ball club for 6 years and the year they brought in somebody better, they won it all. There's just so much data here to support how good Kyle Lowry has actually been that you're fastening blinders to your own head just to ignore it. Holiday has been great for us this year save for that little post-covid stretch, but peak Kyle Lowry he is not.

Lowry has been a quality player, but at this point in their careers, Jrue is simply a better all-around player and playing the best ball of his career. Lowry was a great defender when he entered the NBA, but he ain't what he used to be - and Jrue's defense has far surpassed Lowery's, imo. And I think officials have soured on Lowery's... gamesmanship.

He's been a great, Lowry level player for the past 4-5 years (and so has Middleton), not just "this year". I've always pointed to him not having much success with AD as a reason why I feel like he's become a tad overrated over the years, but even I have to admit that he, until now, hasn't had the benefit of playing for a competent organization and coaching staff, which Lowry always did. The "star but not superstar" level guys always have a part of their legacies/perceptions that are dependent on outside circumstances. Lowry is probably one of the biggest confirmation bias cases when it comes to sudden playoff success elevating a guy who was quite literally once labelled a "playoff choker".
