3rd MVP is right there for the taking if the team can work up to #1 in the conf and close the wins gap vs the Warriors just a bit. Steph’s really slipping and just hasn’t been on the level of Giannis/Jokic this year. Jokic is absolutely insane and probably having the best season of anyone but the team record is gonna kill his chances.

With how mediocre Steph has been as of late, don't know how the media can keep labelling him the favorite without sounding like this is gonna be a 2011 Derrick Rose scenario. I'm still baffled at how they're ignoring Giannis even after winning a title.

I love Steph and understand his offensive value even on bad shooting nights but it's weird how his really bad shooting nights and poor closing of tight games has been ignored because of their unreal start to the season.
Agree with Jokic. Think he's clearly having the best season again but unless Denver figure it out he wont have a shot at gong b2b.

Difference being that Gianni's probably just finished the first half of his career as we speak... And the second half is likely to be better than the first half, which is insane.

A lot easier to market Curry and Durant than Gianni and Jokic (the latter two being, IMO, the two best players in the league).
Plus Freak and Joker play for relatively minor markets and as cool of a personality as they both are, they are pretty laid back guys and just want to play basketball and win.
Strangely enough the Nets get a ton of attention outside of NYC, but most NY'ers don't give a damn about Brooklyn's team.
We've seen some national media praise for Gianni but I agree it's pretty crazy to be leaving him off any MVP discussion. Especially now that the Bucks have crept right up into the #2 seed.

Back in the days there was some dude on the forums who said peak Giannis may be as good as Josh Smith without a jumpshot (which I would contend is just Josh Smith).
Also that theoretical Giannis (the pick he was eventually drafted at) was potentially to be traded for Smith at some point.
*This is not a Josh Smith hating post, he was a really fun player

Nice.
Giannis @ 219 (NBA/ABA) with 13,002. Needs 16 to pass Jeff Mullins. 292 to pass Kyrie. 200 hundred is likely a moving target with Mike Conley but ~25 games. 1,200 behind Kareem for Bucks leader so will be close depending on rest/injuries.

With that last triple double game Giannis's season went from 16th all time in PER just ahead of his first MVP season in 2019 to jumping 2010 Lebron, 89 and 90 Jordan, MVP Jokic and Curry's unanimous MVP in 2016 and is now at 10th all time at 31.49. Closing the gap fast on Jokic.

After the second half bludgeoning of Charlotte, Giannis is up to 32.42 PER on the season, second to Jokic at 32.52. These two are incredible.

Impressive stretch the last few weeks and it feels like outside of the Nets game he hasn't been fully locked in for more than 15 minutes a game.

Recently watched some highlights from his breakout 16-17 season. Still looked like a teenager. I think it could be argued, he became MVP in his third year of an adult body and won the title in his fifth. Crazy trajectory

In January Giannis is at 74.7% of his free throws.
Six games in.
Dec 9 games was 72%
Awesome trend.

I feel like Giannis has gone on a tear with his free throws ever since he missed that tech.
No stats to back it up... But wow. Just loving his current streak.
