My lady got me this for my b-day back in August, thought I'd share it. Handmade, hand-painted, pretty badass.

Tomorrow will mark exactly 3 months. It is still surreal. Maybe not as surreal as it was that night, but, on the verge of a new season, still surreal.

Miami – Close out the series on the road.
Brooklyn – Down 0-2. Close out the series on the road.
Atlanta – Down 0-1. Close out the series on the road.
Phoenix – Down 0-2. Broke the pattern – Bucks in 6.

So many memories stand out. (sorry for the long post)

Brooklyn

“Middleton spinning ….. Hits!”

“And that’ll do it, the Bucks beat the Nets”

Atlanta

“And Someone’s Down. It’s Giannis!”

“Blocked by Lopez!”

“Middleton for 3? Yes!”

“Here’s Lopez…..”

“And the Milwaukee Bucks are one win away from the NBA Finals!”

“Khris Middleton is putting on a SHOW!”

Phoenix

“Giannis Antetokounmpo, after Missing the Last Two Games, is In The Lineup!”

“We got better tonight. I can feel it. We can feel it. We’re gonna go home. We’ll be better at home”

“Holiday behind the back, Middleton back to Holiday, inside Portis, for the Slam!”

Bobby! Bobby!

“Bang! What a Bucks’ Barrage!”

“They can’t stop Giannis. Back to Back 40 Point Finals Games!”

“High Drama in Milwaukee in Game 4!”

“Antetokounmpo with the Steal. He Soars and Scores!”

“Pat Connaughton gives Milwaukee the Lead, and This Place is Delirious!”

“How many times in critical games has Khris Middleton come through for the Bucks?”

“This Building is Shaking!”

“Holiday comes up with it. Gives it up to Middleton who puts it Up and In!”

“Khris Middleton leading Milwaukee with 40 Points!”

“This series is such a Roller Coaster Ride”

“The Suns have thrown a Haymaker here in the 1st quarter, it’s 37-21!”

“Holiday? ….. Got It! Jrue Holiday, Lighting It Up in the first half!”

“And the Bucks down 16 after one, put up 43 in the 2nd and lead it 64-61 here on the road!”

“It’s Good! More Middleton Magic!”

“Paul get’s inside. It’s good! It’s a 1 point game!”

“Knocked Away and Stolen by Holiday! ....... Giannis Slammed It! How About That!”

“Giannis on the Alley-Oop. What a Turn Around!”

“Bridges driving, Get Out of There by Giannis! What a Start!”

“The Spin Move, the Finish, and Giannis Does it Again!”

“The Prowess of Giannis Antetokounmpo on Full Display!”

“Brook Lopez with Authority!”

“They Are All On Their Feet at Fiserv Forum!”

“Giannis with 45!”

“It’s Bedlam in Bucksland Right Now!”

“Giannis, with One of the Most Iconic Performances in the Storied History of the NBA Finals!”

“50 Points!”

“And the Suns…….. are Not Gonna Foul!”

In the stands that night I was so filled with nervous energy it was hard to let the gravity of it all hit me. I was happy, but more so just kind of relieved it was over.

Tonight in the stands, my guess is it’ll hit me hard and I’ll get some dust in my eyes.

Herb Kohl getting a ring is the highlight of this ring ceremony for me. He was a meddler, but man he loves this team.

Heat game 1. Giannis played the 4th quarter with a dinged arm. Khris the shot was incredible but I almost forgot Jrue had an incredible block of butler with 0.5 seconds left. I've also enjoyed seeing Giannis and Jrue tag team butler into being just a speed bump. (Giannis is called for a 10 second violation late in the game)

Heat game 2. First quarter. Heat 20pts vs Forbes 14pts. he's also playing great defense, game of his life he can tell his grandchildren about. The deer district crowd keeps growing. It was full of tables in game one, the tables are starting to disappear with a couple thousand fans behind the table section.

Other notables: ariza's most notable move in the playoffs was trying to do a push up on Giannis's dick. Dragic with a bitch move trying to trip Khris. Giannis showing us he could have played soccer.

Heat game 3: boring slug fest. No team in the first half could hit a shot beyond 10 feet. Yet the bucks are built with the ability to win ugly. Just attack the paint attack the boards and make life miserable for the other team on defense. Amazing ability to completely out rebound the heat. Midway thru the 3rd teams remember how to shoot but it's too late. Butler continues to be smothered, no complimentary players help out much. Bucks control comfortably throughout even without shooting great. Heat are dead in the water when they can't hit their 3s,bucks keep trucking.

In the 4th quarter, heat fans start counting during Giannis's free throw routine. IT STARTED HERE! Jim and MJ joke about it a bit, oh little did we know what a big deal this was going to turn into.

Heat game 4: you know that pain when the bucks are farting around and just look meh? Well the first half is meh, minus Bryn Forbes with 13 in the second quarter. Heat intensity is higher but they can't pull too far ahead. Bucks crawl back into it in the third and take over eventually. Dragic fake wrestling on Khris is embarrassing. Bryn was worth it just with him eliminating the heat. Giannis first triple double in playoffs, 3rd in bucks history. 15 beautiful assists. The 4th quarter is MUST RE- WATCH. OMG IT'S BEAUTIFUL!

Crowd chants "overrated!" when Middleton goes to the line in the second. Maybe only DD is chanting along at home. Oh miami, how Khris is going to prove you and the rest of the world wrong.

Only 2 and1’s so far, for such a great post. What a shame... Come on, Bucks fans, leave your holes and give credit where credit is due.
It's an amazing post and I hope he does this for every series. I don't know how to And 1 on my phone. :)

Anyone know if Suki got a ring? I'd bloody hope so.

Like if Craig gets one and she doesn't I'd be quite annoyed.

I don't think guys like Craig and DJW got one. I read or saw something somewhere and it was stated specifically that only players a part of the playoff run will get rings.

I think maybe Ring Night will be the end of getting choked up over this. Amazing that the Bucks were able to pull out a win. Bucks have beat the Nets 7 of the last 10 times they have squared off. 2-3 in Brooklyn, 5-0 in Milwaukee. I get why so many people are ready to anoint Brooklyn, but I expect hardly any of those people recognize how successful the Bucks have been head to head.

Last night it almost seemed as if Nash was trying to lose, or at least making losing a strong possibility. He DNP'd Bruce Brown who played great against the Bucks in the playoffs last year. Then he sits Harden with lots of time in the 4th quarter and sends in the end of bench players with almost 4 minutes left. That all seemed a bit sneaky, almost like getting the Bucks to think beating the Nets again will be easy.

I don't think the Milwaukee fans have received enough recognition for their role in the championship. It seems to me like there have been a lot of negative comments here over the years about the lack of noise at Bucks games. To the contrary, Bucks fans gave the team a boost throughout the playoffs this year. Even the national broadcasters mentioned the loud support. In the Finals, it was mentioned that both arenas were loud, but that Milwaukee was just a little bit louder. Mike Breen with his line "This Building is Shaking!".

And of course, there was the tone set by the Deer District. What a mob. What a commitment to watch the game in a crowd standing without seats, without easy access to replays, without easy views of the screen. What an unprecedented show of support.

We know that a lot of the fans joined the bandwagon recently. Lots of wintry nights in the BC with swaths of empty seats over the years. Lots of nights when the screams over t-shirt tosses drowned out the reaction to anything happening on the court. But this time, when it came time to face the demons of being humiliated by Miami, or the talented firepower of the Nets, or the rising Hawks without the 2-time MVP, or the veteran led young Phoenix Suns, Bucks fans showed up in force. Games that were played at 0% to 25% capacity only a few weeks before the playoffs began, were unfolding in front of a full house before the second round was concluded. The Bucks kept flirting with disaster, be it a sluggish start against Miami that required overtime, or digging holes to start series against Brooklyn, Atlanta and Phoenix. Each time, Bucks fans provided an emotional springboard that contributed to a 10-1 home playoff record, capped by a Finals closeout. Surreal.

Personally, I never say "We" when talking about the Bucks. The team wins or loses. "We" seems too cheesy. But I think Bucks fans deserve a bit of credit for creating an atmosphere as good as any in the NBA. An atmosphere capable of propelling the team to playoff wins. An atmosphere that likely convinced Bobby! Bobby! to return on an incredibly team friendly contract. Congrats to us, we made a difference.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
