You're assuming we're gonna get healthy. Don't be surprised if Brook doesn't come back this year.

Unless you have inside info, which you very well could, I say he’ll be back before Christmas :D

if this was true then the mods and front office would be ramming that truth up our ass considering how horrific weve looked so far this year

im fully aware there is a "private message behind the board board" as it relates to us peons... but seriously its about time if theres some inside information as it relates to this squad that the other half this board doesnt know then that mess needs to be shared. there isnt any possible way this bologna with brook and ddv isnt out there somewhere with somebody. the fact it continues to be some half ass conversation starter here tells me theres clearly an understanding elsewhere

Thanasis Antetokounmpo is 29 years old. He doesn't have the potential to be a rotational player.

He is passable as a rotation player, better than what I’ve seen from Semi and a couple others who are playing decent minutes in a lot of these games. As long as he sticks to an occasional around the basket finish he beats Semi for 5-10 mins of playing time a game in my book.

He's not passable as a rotational player at all. We saw that while we were treading water for the early part of the season. He's too small for a five and has too limited range to be a four. He doesn't really fit anywhere. 5-10 minutes of playing time a game aren't rotational guys fyi, they're guys who are used as victory cigars.

No, he's a special missions guy, 10 minutes on the other team's best player to see if he can find something that breaks his rhythm, and he often does. He can actually turn a game around like that, but if you play him too long he'll probably start being a negative.
He has a place.

No he really doesn't though... the roster is built for the play offs, and it's full, fuller than it's ever been actually.
The only reason Horst would need to do something is if he's been told that Donte or Brook will not be ready for the post season.

All those other guys, the Nwora/Mamu/Robinson/Semi/Hood of this world don't need to see a single minute on the floor after the regular season is done. Thanasis maybe 10 minutes every second or third game, if the game calls for it.

Remember we just won a title without a starting or back up SG and without a back up PG. You don't need too many players in the playoffs, you need few really good players, and compared to last year we're adding three of those: DDV, Allen and Hill. If all goes to plan.

I honestly don't know where your head's at if you think putting Thanasis Antetokounmpo on a team's best player is a good idea at ANY point in time, let alone believing that he often disrupts their rhythm. That's just a bonkers assertion. If you're actually doing that, you're at a point where you're throwing your hands up and a whole lot of **** at the wall to see what sticks.

You literally followed up this post with a "every second or third game" and you even added a stipulation to that with "if the game calls for it." Say it with me. That. Is. Not. A. Rotational. Player.

I absolutely would.

I don't think that 10 minutes every 2nd or 3rd game makes someone a rotational player. That's a specialist.

Regardless, I said my opinion, you said yours. All good.

They're getting better. They played well for 3 quarters rather than just 1 in the previous game.

or not.

how about this on ddv.....would it seem reasonable to you if jabari's acls had been labeled "a knee injury" and during that time we would have been updated for months along the lines of "he's progressing ahead of schedule" not knowing the extent or the exact nature of the injury?

or what about brooks back? or is it even his back? weve been led to believe somewhere... maybe... that he has a sore back or something..... but hes missed 17 games now out over a month with nothing. no interview. no statement. nothing. it makes no sense and it annoys me how this is discussed here. so unhinged my ass. if i was a media guy in a large market id be 100% normal with how im speaking and people would read my article and this **** would be addressed tomorrow.

the idea theres no timeline on either of these guys.... 2 starters on a defending champion.... is literally insane and unprecedented.

bottom line here we have game threads going 2 pages when in the past they would have gone 20. i get we won a championship and everybody parties with opiates post game waiting for next may and june but im trying to shine some light on this whack **** and maybe get a detail in a paper or a question answered somewhere.

I usually like you as a poster, and hope your OK. I don't know why it's so important for them to release a time line to us. I like that they're letting the medical personnel and trainers determine the course of action to actually fix the problem.

Brook only played 25 minutes a game in the Finals, this team needs to learn to play without him.

I saw elsewhere that Donte was working out with the trainers and getting shots up before one of the last couple home games. There is video out there on it.

Also, Brook supposedly did the same and was seen in the practice facility in workout gear last week. Bud was asked about it but played it off that Brook dresses like that all the time.

I would lean towards they haven’t made a panic trade or signing yet because they believe Brook will be back sooner rather than later and in the meantime they can assess the Semis and Hoods of the team to see if they provide any rotational value (Semi appears a lost cause but Hood is at 41% from 3 albeit in a small sample size).

They probably went into the season counting on nothing from DDV, which is why they traded and extended Grayson. And they just won a title without DDV. He’s not that important. Brook of course is.

This is my issue. A signing or a trade wouldn't be a panic move. The reality of back injuries is that they are often stress induced and have to be managed. Even if Brook comes back soon, we don't want him to have to carry a heavy load for the rest of the season. At his age and his size, the back will continue to be a concern. We've seen our roster exposed over the course of the last 17 games. The wear and tear trickles down with players. Giannis takes on more, Bobby takes on more, etc. and come end of the season, that affects your overall ability to stay fresh. We're pinching pennies right now and we need bodies that can contribute. Half of our roster is junk.

I guess I just understand the realities of the back half of the roster for a team so top heavy with talent. Go look at the back half of the roster dynasty Warriors or LeBron’s Heat.

FFS, they know and you don't. And out of the two, the Bucks and GoS, the one who needs to be in the know is the one that knows. Give it a rest. It's official, you're that insufferable guy for whom winning a championship will never be good enough.
The Bucks did not win the 2019-20 NBA Title - BUT THEY DID WIN IT IN 2020-2021! WORLD CHAMPS BABY!!!

No one cares if our guys are out "weeks months or years at a time"? Really? JFC. Of course we care. And yes it would be great if we got detailed injury reports, xrays, MRI results, press conferences with doctors and world renowned back specialists . Sure it's frustrating not knowing when Brook is coming back. But you know what, maybe the team doesn't know either. Back injuries are not always black and white. Not everything shows up on an MRI. We all want him back and of course we all care. Many have voiced their frustrations on the board. What we don't do, or most of us anyway, is continuously go off the deep end. Doing so doesn't make anyone more of a fan.

We do know more about Donte's ankle than that it's an ankle injury. We know it was a torn ligament and he had surgery to repair it. I think we can read the uncertainty of the timeline as a sign that it's not as common as something like an ACL, which is such a common athletic bugaboo that there are mountains of data on RTP for elite athletes, and even then, we typically don't get a goal date until pretty late in rehab.

We usually don't get the initial timelines from the team, we get them from reporting on the typical course of injury and rehab on that type of injury. The sources from the team usually only leak whether or not the guy is expected to return that season and only release publicly that the surgery occurred, whether it was a success (always yes), and whether he's expected to make a full recovery (always yes).

We joke about "making progress" but in Donte's case we're getting visual signs of that progress in the videos reporters (mainly Jim O.) share on social. I don't think we get a goal date leaked until he's playing 5-on-5 without a setback.

this entire episode was triggered AGAIN when voodoo said not to be surprised if lopez is out the year.

and dont mock me about ddv. id settle for knowing what ligament or tendon or whatever was involved. like literally was it an achilles? a different tendon or liga ment? like are we allowed to know the actual injury? in the past there was discussion like from jez and others about this type of thing when the actual injury was shared with the media. we have smart people on this board that shared their opinions on health stuff.

this board has been the best accumulation of bucks fanatics on the planet for several decades now. we had 100 page threads on individual topics like this in the past. if lopez is out the year or dealing with something longterm maybe we could have a discussion about it like the old days
